With our most recent update, Nadia and Sana were added to our Legends of the
Past roster! Be sure to get out there and kill, kill, kill!

For a bit more history on them, be sure to check out their helpfiles (if
they're not in when you go to check, give us a day or two, real lives and all
of that!), ask our resident bard about them, and even ask them a few things,
too!

I'd like to extend a giant 'Thank you!' to Cheese, who put in a ton of hard
work on these new npcs.
Plagasgraw's Story

I was born the only child of a recently immigrated Irish couple. They were
rural folk, raised me from birth on their farm in Idaho. They raised me to
respect and love the country that had welcomed them so openly, and I did.

When the Japanese attacked I was incensed. When I heard President Roosevelt's
address to congress and that congress promptly declared war on Japan, I was
inspired. I purchased an ace bandage at the drug store, wrapped my chest,
stole my father's shirt and presented myself at the nearest army recruitment
office.

Having just received their orders from on high and volunteers en masse, the
army gave us nothing more than a cursory examination and we were off to boot
camp.

My commanding officer during training must have seen something in me; he fast
tracked me to officer candidate school. I was somewhat surprised, but assume
that my file must have gotten mixed up with someone else's, as OCS required a
high enlisted rank, or a degree - neither of which I had.

I completed both boot camp and OCS and emerged as a second lieutenant assigned
to the eighth air force. My first assignment was as a waist gunner on a B-17E
flying fortress, flying with Major Paul Tibbets in the lead of our squadron
and Brigadier General Ira Eaker on board one of the ships as an observer.

The bombing run on Rouen-Sotteville was successful except for one fortress
that was shot down by flak. All but two crew members were killed, one
seriously injured.

I was able to pull Charlie from the wreck, but he was in no condition to walk.
I carried him as far as I could; knowing that the Germans would be searching
for our plane and any survivors. As night fell I was exhausted, I found a
recently abandoned hovel and wrapped Charlie up in every stitch I could find
to keep him warm. Now that I could inspect him, I discovered that his left leg
and arm were broken. He was in excruciating pain. As he rested I did my best
to manufacture a one-man stretcher, eventually working myself to sleep.

I woke to footsteps outside the hovel. Concerned, I drew my side-arm, a
Colt .45, and readied myself. From the voices I could tell there was at least
one male and one female. Perhaps the hovel wasn't so abandoned. Though I could
not speak German or French, I had picked up on some accents during training.
The people outside were French, I could only hope that they were just
stumbling home drunk on that famous French wine.

The door began to creek open, allowing light to stream through. I shouted
'Hold your ground and identify yourself'. In response I received a single
world: 'Que?', though the door did stop. I decided to identify myself, 'This
is Lieutenant Plagasgraw O'Haggerty of the United States Army Air Forces. I am
armed and will defend myself.'

The male responded, 'Ne parle pas! Es tu parle Francais?' Not understanding a
word, I could only go by tone. His tone did not sound as though he was going
to barge in firing on me. The two of them began a muffled conversation,
probably deciding whether to get the nearest armed guard or not. As their
hushed tones subsided, the woman spoke, 'I speak little English, are you
American?'

Glad to hear my native tongue, I responded 'Yes, I was shot down'. She told me
that it was not safe for me here and asked if they could come in. Seeing no
other option, I opened the door, but kept my side-arm trained on the doorway.

They entered and she introduced herself as Elise, and her compatriot as
Jacques. Are all Frenchmen named Jacques? I decided they were friendly enough
and holstered my side-arm. When she saw Charlie she inquired after him. I
informed her of the situation. She sent Jacques away, who returned shortly
with two burly looking fellows. After a quick discussion, they began to cart
Charlie away as I followed Elise through the city.

I found myself ushered into a cafe basement where Elise introduced me to the
rotund owner, Rene. Apparently not all Frenchmen are named Jacques. Rene, who
spoke far better English than Elise, informed me that the people who brought
us here were in the French resistance, and that we should be safe for a while.

I spent ten days in that cafe basement but the French were able to set up a
rendezvous with some English troops who were then able to get Charlie and me
back to the allies and eventually to our base. Charlie was discharged, but
eventually healed most of his wounds. I was called a hero, given the Purple
Heart and promoted to full Lieutenant.

As soon as they could the Army Air Force trained me to pilot the B-17 bombers.
They wanted a poster-child hero to plaster on the news reels back home. I was
glad to receive the training but never much felt like a hero. Once I graduated
flight school, I was promoted to Captain and given my own plane with
handpicked crew. I missed Charlie, he would have been great on my crew.

I am now resting in my bunk, writing this to you, looking forward to my next
bombing run.

Cattiness Abound

Addyson stretched out her legs as she sank into the plush armchair, a
satin-covered foot peeked out from under her gown and an arm slid to hang off
of the edge of the armrest. She was bored, she didn't feel bad for making it
obvious, and could not wait for Jaina to stop her complaining.

'No, no, no, no, no,' Jaina said for what Addyson felt was the twentieth time
that day. 'She isn't your mother so I will not give you those journals!' The
blue eyed doctor huffed then, stalking over to a bookcase and leaned against
it. Addyson turned her silvery gaze to the sofa, taking in Israella's
presence. She was stretched out, languid and so very at-home. Addyson liked
this woman who looked so much like Nadia Itani. Jaina didn't; she'd made that
very obvious for the past fortnight, even more so when she denied the witch
access to Nadia's private journals. Addyson saw nothing wrong with her,
though. The young Ravenswick felt that her carefree nature was contagious, her
compassion was palpable, and her ability to go from a sophisticated dame to
casual being was fascinating.

Addyson turned her gaze back to Jaina. 'Give me the journals,' she said, her
tone simple and straight to the point. Jaina opened her mouth to argue, but
Addyson held up a hand. 'She was my mother, too, so give me the journals. In
fact, I am your older sister, so perhaps my claim to them is stronger than
yours.'

Jaina huffed again, her arms crossed and settled over her belly. 'She didn't
even know you!' Addyson merely shrugged.

'I am the elder, therefor sensitive family documents should be in my
possession.' Addyson kept her eyes trained on Jaina, but she heard a soft
snort of laughter come from the sofa. 'I have every right to view them.' Her
gaze narrowed, her perfectly shaped brows furrowed slightly. 'I want to read
about how I died, Jaina Aurion.' Addyson's voice was soft, her tone very cold.
'Now give me those journals or I will take them from you.'

Pushing herself off of the bookcase, Jaina straightened her stance, uncrossing
her arms. 'Bring it, Addy--'

'Goodness, Jaina,' Addyson said loudly, cutting off the young doctor. 'You act
as though I am trying to rip the very memories from your mind. I am not
Oblivion and they will be returned to you when I am done with them.'

'Fine,' Jaina snapped, storming past Israella and Addyson as she moved to the
door. A hand on the doorknob, she turned to glance over her shoulder at the
pair. 'F... Fine!' she said before whipping the door open and taking her
leave. Once Jaina had slammed the door shut, Addyson looked at Israella who
waved a hand almost lazily at it, locking it.

Silence reigned as the girls merely sat, still looking incredibly at ease.
Israella looked out the window, her blue gaze following a robin as it flitted
around and Addyson played with the pendant on her necklace, neither paying
any attention to the other. 'Thank you,' Israella said after several moments,
smiling at the pale-eyed woman across from her. Addyson shrugged as she picked
some dirt from under her perfectly manicured nails.

'You may peek at them, but only after I have finished looking for information
about the townhouse.'

Israella laughed, shifting until she was sitting up properly. 'All I want is
information on the Ravenswick Chateau,' she said earnestly as she gracefully
crossed her legs.

Addyson raised an eyebrow. 'One would think only a Ravenswick would desire
that information.' The witch shrugged and stood, walking to the bookshelf
Jaina had leaned against. She began to shift through the contents, hesitating
as she came across various jewelry items. Addyson never took her eyes off of
Israella. 'What do you want with the Ravenswick Chateau?' Her voice was cold,
a touch quieter than it had been when she spoke to Jaina.

'I want to check out the damage,' Rae said, not looking at Addyson. 'Fix a
bit, get it nice for Moris and Miss Theresa.'

Addyson shifted, sitting up a bit as she leaned forward. 'You are familiar
with my father.'

Israella stepped back from the shelves, the photo album she'd been flipping
through left open. Turning to face Addyson, she said, 'I'm as familiar as he
lets me be. I asked him what I should call him when we met and I didn't hear
'Lord Ravenswick', nor did I hear 'Mr Ravenswick', 'Lord Moris', or 'Sir.' He
told me to call him 'Moris', so you'd best get used to hearing somebody other
than his lover call him by his name.'

Addyson sniffed and looked away and Israella took that to mean she could
resume her perusal of the photo album. After a few moments of silence,
Israella turned back to the chair, planning to apologize for snipping at
Addyson, but she was gone. With a sigh, Israella swept over to the door,
unlocked and opened it, only to find herself face-to-face with Jaina. Neither
woman said a word to the other, each turning sideways as they passed through
the door, never letting their eyes stray from the other. Once Israella was
outside, they stood with the door open, Jaina staring so intently at Israella.
Just as the latter opened her mouth to say something, Jaina slammed the door
shut.

'Wench,' was all Rae could mutter as she made her way down Mount Washington,
leaving the Ravenswick-Rayne residence behind.

Deirdrrrrreeeee,

You've been gone for too long. You haven't ended up in a gutter, hungover
beyond all belief, right? I need you to visit; we're still in Malta. If you
promise to stay a few nights, I might even clean the sofa so you have a place
to crash.

Might.

Besides, I think you and Kezia could bond over a bottle or three of wine.
You're worldly and she absolutely refuses to go more than a kilometer away
from the cottage, so it'd be like a match made in Lusheaven.

I'm kidding. Don't hurt me. Please.
Sethypoo,

No as a matter of fact I haven't ended up in a gutter :P. Well I do ache all
over but its due to the Mongolian Flu contracted recently on assignment in
China. Malta does sound heavenly - once I'm feeling better a visit is
definitely in order.

In between assignments I've been spending time in France. Found a nice place
in a seaside village. The people are friendly and have accepted me as one of
their own -- if I should ever tire of the road I could be very happy here.
Sethypoo? I'm certain I've never felt hate such as this flow through my veins.
You're cruel. When you visit, you get to babysit Alessa.

Dearest Stick-in-the-mud,

Please stop looking at me in that tone of voice, I have a massive, er,
headache. It started out perfectly innocent. I was in the city on business
and decided to take a walk. Feeling hungry, I stopped in for a quick bite
and a glass of wine. Really it was juuuust one glass but don't ask me how
many refills for I can't recall that particular detail at this point in time.
I remember these piercing eyes and the kindest smile but that is when things
start to get blurry. Why do I put myself through this?

My head hurts. I need a nap.

Hope things are well with you, ya big lug.

xoxo,
You need to come to Malta. Now. This is an intervention and if you're not here
within a fortnight, I'll come find you myself. And trust me, you'll wish you'd
listened to me if it comes to that.
