A note from the implementor....&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
                         New Ways to Play&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
With all the recent talk about what to do once you reach level 50 and&lt;br /&gt;
start racking up redeem points and the different ways people use and want&lt;br /&gt;
to use channels and approach RP, I thought it might be interesting to&lt;br /&gt;
explore some different ways to play the game that might not be so obvious.&lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
The simplest approaches to playing muds are often the easiest routes to&lt;br /&gt;
max-min your reward/cost&amp;amp;risk ratios. This is where you go out and just&lt;br /&gt;
mindlessly plow through everything that moves. This is easy, this is&lt;br /&gt;
relatively safe if you know that what you target won't hurt you back.&lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
LegendMUD is played by different people on many different levels. Many&lt;br /&gt;
people take more complex approaches but basically similar to the one&lt;br /&gt;
above. Others approach LegendMUD as a challenge to their roleplaying&lt;br /&gt;
skills. There's no WRONG way to play LegendMUD as long as you have fun.&lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
So what are some challenges that you can set up for yourself that might&lt;br /&gt;
be entertaining and provide you with a sense of accomplishment?&lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
o Set out to do what other players claim is the impossible. Or at least&lt;br /&gt;
  have fun trying.&lt;br /&gt;
o Equip yourself entirely from the area that matches your RP or&lt;br /&gt;
  hometown. No strings.&lt;br /&gt;
o Play with your first stat roll. Don't do any stat quests.&lt;br /&gt;
o Approach it like a tourist, see the sights everywhere. Wander through&lt;br /&gt;
  the playhouses and museums and castles, listen to the stories.&lt;br /&gt;
o See what the minimum number of practices you can spend is. Variation:&lt;br /&gt;
  see how many &amp;quot;useless&amp;quot; skills you can pick up and then do something&lt;br /&gt;
  with them.&lt;br /&gt;
o Be able to type WHO and have each person know something about you.&lt;br /&gt;
o See how many people you can get to ask you just WHAT that thing you&lt;br /&gt;
  keep saying is... or just WHAT that string is...&lt;br /&gt;
o Insist on eating proper food.&lt;br /&gt;
o See how long can you can really go without using a chalice.&lt;br /&gt;
o Have a party with food and drink items collected from the game.&lt;br /&gt;
o Play and perfect an atypical pkill character. Be accept all asap.&lt;br /&gt;
o See how many whois strings you can rack up in a given time period.&lt;br /&gt;
o Ask people if they need you to run errands for them, to make money.&lt;br /&gt;
o See how long you can go without the aid of magic in any form.&lt;br /&gt;
o See how many colored items you can get without colored strings.&lt;br /&gt;
o Don't kill the same thing twice in a row. Or even the same day.&lt;br /&gt;
o Aim for either -1000 or +1000 alignment and only kill accordingly.&lt;br /&gt;
o Don't rent in the same inn twice in a week.&lt;br /&gt;
o See if you can find a whois string no one else has.&lt;br /&gt;
o See if you can keep a perfect 0 alignment.&lt;br /&gt;
o Collect a unique item from each area listed in areas or areainfo.&lt;br /&gt;
o Pick your favorite room description in each area listed.&lt;br /&gt;
o Set up a scavenger hunt for other players&lt;br /&gt;
o Be able to type WHO and know something about each person.&lt;br /&gt;
o Choose and take over a clan you see as dead. Make something of it.&lt;br /&gt;
o Get to know an area so well that you can mail the builder a list of&lt;br /&gt;
  improvements that do not involve stat items.&lt;br /&gt;
o Find the five best weapons for each stat type. Use #5 for your&lt;br /&gt;
  proficiency.&lt;br /&gt;
o Use resistances and tools to defeat your foes!&lt;br /&gt;
o Approach a newbie completely IC and see if you can get him to RP along&lt;br /&gt;
  with you rather than beg for stuff.&lt;br /&gt;
o Create your own ascii art stationery in full color and on a funky paper&lt;br /&gt;
  type&lt;br /&gt;
o Collect up a few 'signature' items to hand out to people you pass.&lt;br /&gt;
  Brochures, candies, flowers....&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
So if you're not currently having fun but are bored out of your mind with&lt;br /&gt;
your current approach, you might want to consider looking at how you are&lt;br /&gt;
playing the game and not just assuming the immorts aren't changing the&lt;br /&gt;
game in front of you fast enough.&lt;br /&gt;

  /    \      have fled or the mob is stunned. Bess not so friendly if&lt;br /&gt;

   |  |       Take care with the fires in the huts! A few new items were&lt;br /&gt;

  /    \      Avalanche shouldn't catch people who are sneaking. Be&lt;br /&gt;
 /_    _\     careful fighting the higher level mobs here, they have&lt;br /&gt;
   |  |       learned some new skills. Fixes Alfredo's messages for&lt;br /&gt;
   |  |       putting stuff up on a shelf.&lt;br /&gt;

   |__|       Dimmesdale shouldn't just leave on you in the middle of&lt;br /&gt;
    /\        quests. White blouse keywords fixed. Various typos fixed.&lt;br /&gt;
   /  \     FRENCH &amp;amp; INDIAN WAR:&lt;br /&gt;
  /    \      Hah-gweh-di-yu and Wood-eater are comparable in experience&lt;br /&gt;
 /_    _\     now. Nicolette is more interesting now, but be careful, as&lt;br /&gt;
   |  |       she takes offense and remembers it. Lots of new clothing&lt;br /&gt;
   |  |       for people in the area. More still planned. Many of the&lt;br /&gt;
   |  |       random actions were expanded upon, so the mobs don't always&lt;br /&gt;
   |__|       spam the same thing. Non-skill fights acts should be a bit&lt;br /&gt;
    /\        more random in the damage they do. The atmosphere of the&lt;br /&gt;
   /  \       forest should feel more like a forest. Various bugs and&lt;br /&gt;
  /    \      typos fixed.&lt;br /&gt;
 /_    _\   MEDIEVAL BRITAIN (SHERWOOD)&lt;br /&gt;
   |  |       Will o' the Green and Little John handle dashing a bit&lt;br /&gt;
   |  |       nicer now. Also, a couple of other problems with how Will&lt;br /&gt;
   |  |       was determining how much you owed were fixed. Robin and the&lt;br /&gt;
   |__|       sheriff can no longer be killed instantly or with one shot.&lt;br /&gt;
    /\        You can now play darts in the Salutation Inn. The fauna&lt;br /&gt;
   /  \       should be more local. The milk cow should stay out of the&lt;br /&gt;
  /    \      loft. Various bugs and typos fixed and responses added.&lt;br /&gt;

   |  |       Giving items to Levasseur should be handled better now. Let&lt;br /&gt;

Thanks to everyone who came to the Medieval Faire on the 21st! It was fun&lt;br /&gt;
setting up and running it. The archery tourney was a blast with Kaige's&lt;br /&gt;
new code.&lt;br /&gt;

The first round was held with the target at ten paces.&lt;br /&gt;
First Place:   Kir      Second Place:  McDougan  Third Place:   Wes&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The second round was held with the target at fifty paces and ended up in a&lt;br /&gt;
shoot-out between Kir and Sphinx for first place after they both shot two&lt;br /&gt;
perfect bullseyes.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
First Place:   Kir      Second Place:  Sphinx    Third Place:   Switch&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The 3rd and final round moved the target to 100 paces and ended in a three&lt;br /&gt;
way tie! After another round of sudden death, the final results were:&lt;br /&gt;

                        The Story of Wilhelm&lt;br /&gt;

Greetings indeed!  I have been asked to contribute to my life story and I&lt;br /&gt;
shall attempt to do so, as far as I recall.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
For unknown aeons, I was trapped within the asura's shadow, a dark and nasty&lt;br /&gt;
place. However, luckily, in order to keep a Sir McDougan's soul from being&lt;br /&gt;
taken by Slytherin, and in an exchange intended to release the Lady Masha's&lt;br /&gt;
soul, I was summoned from the shadow. I was placed into McDougan's body, thus&lt;br /&gt;
sending him into my former imprisonment temporarily. Slytherin proceeded to&lt;br /&gt;
steal my soul, but, as soon as Masha was more or less saved. (Sadly, it was&lt;br /&gt;
not completely effective.)&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
McDougan was returned to the asura, and by breaking the asura, I was returned&lt;br /&gt;
to McDougan's body.  A foul-tempered and somewhat disagreeable fellow, I have&lt;br /&gt;
learned through an argument with him there, but he indeed turned out to be&lt;br /&gt;
nicer than I had been given the impression at that time.  Anyway, as&lt;br /&gt;
Slytherin attempted to turn all against me by claiming me to indeed be a&lt;br /&gt;
demon, McDougan defended me, and eventually, it was arranged that I should&lt;br /&gt;
take the body of William of the Wulf, a dead clanmate of Edric's.  But,&lt;br /&gt;
indeed, the darkness I was temporarily sent to frightened me too greatly, and&lt;br /&gt;
though the angel Edric had summoned assured me that heaven was heavenly, I&lt;br /&gt;
desired to experience more of life after my internment in the asura's&lt;br /&gt;
shadow.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Finding a recently slaughtered knight in a place called Kleinstadt, I quickly&lt;br /&gt;
entered his body. Meanwhile, Edric's attempts to put my soul in the body of&lt;br /&gt;
William of the Wulf appears to have summoned the actual soul of William.&lt;br /&gt;
Which is a happy boon indeed!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Soon after, Masha was possessed by a demon, and Edric and I had to battle the&lt;br /&gt;
demon, luckily, an event that was indeed successful, though, sadly, I fear&lt;br /&gt;
from recent events that the part of her soul lost when the demon left was&lt;br /&gt;
indeed a crucial bit that I must recover as soon as is possible.  I shall&lt;br /&gt;
attempt this task indeed!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Otherwise, I am but a simple and ordinary squire.&lt;br /&gt;

   Allegations flew widely indeed against my liege, Edric of the Wulf.  as&lt;br /&gt;
the accusations from the Seven Circles of wulfpacking, Lying, and cheating&lt;br /&gt;
mounted which none of the institute members could believe, tensions between&lt;br /&gt;
the clans grew tighter, stretching - until they indeed snapped!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
   As Marcel found himself unable to convince Emrysia to throw my liege,&lt;br /&gt;
Edric, out of the clan, and I, in what I thought was merely a symbolic&lt;br /&gt;
gesture, accepted him.  As I proceeded to defend Edric to Marcel, Marcel&lt;br /&gt;
requested me to come to the Moor Field, and indeed, there I went.  As I&lt;br /&gt;
waited for Marcel to speak, I found myself beset!  Unprepared for any battle,&lt;br /&gt;
I had no choice but to flee, being but a tender squire.  I fled to Edric's&lt;br /&gt;
room in the institute hall, and locked myself in.  Edric then awoke.  Dashiva&lt;br /&gt;
appeared, and begin shouting for blood.  Edric prepared himself for battle.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
   The battle was a most difficult one, for Dashiva fled, only to return to&lt;br /&gt;
fight again.  Whilst I watched, Marcel appeared, and attacked me once more!&lt;br /&gt;
I died, but returned to see Dashiva defeated, as Emrysia arrived and demanded&lt;br /&gt;
to know what was occurring Marcel said he was teaching me manners (if&lt;br /&gt;
attacking someone who comes under truce be manners), and threatened my life,&lt;br /&gt;
as when Emrysia had entered, she had naturally locked the clan hall door,&lt;br /&gt;
keeping Dashiva out.  Edric went to let Dashiva in, and Dashiva accused him&lt;br /&gt;
of killing him whilst link-dead, though indeed, there was no evidence that it&lt;br /&gt;
was such that he could have known.  Edric gave me his sword, and offered to&lt;br /&gt;
allow Dashiva to attack him, but in a rare honorable act from the seven&lt;br /&gt;
circles, he refused.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
  As the Seven circles finally left, Edric offered to leave the institute,&lt;br /&gt;
but Emrysia insisted he stay.  This is where it stands of now, and, sadly,&lt;br /&gt;
the institute's neutrality has been broken, and we find ourselves no longer&lt;br /&gt;
able to help in pk, for enemies beset us, and we can no longer heal both&lt;br /&gt;
sides, and so must heal none.  If even lowly squires are unsafe, would the&lt;br /&gt;
druids and surgeons be protected as well?&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Author's Addendum: It has come to my attention that Dashiva is not indeed of&lt;br /&gt;
the Seven Circles, but in fact a Guardian of Justice!  Why he was assisting&lt;br /&gt;
the demonic clan is indeed unknown!&lt;br /&gt;
