The Immortal Report

Kaige sorted bugs, typos, ideas and all that fun stuff.

ADMIN:

Sandra updated some help files, spoke with a player about
immorting, warned a player for multiplaying, warned some other
people for profanity and the like.

Chocorua set players to 0 xp by request, pkenabled a player, and
watched for people obviously cheating. He also dealth with some
player-player harassment. Govan did a few restrings and helped a
bewildered newbie by pointing her to the helpfiles and answering
her other questions. Seth did the usual restrings and archiving,
issued one warning for cursing on chat, helped someone with a bug,
and erased a couple of clan board posts on request.

BUILDING:

Rufus has been busy with work and with other real life stuff so he
didn't get much accomplished this week.

Charity was out of town last week so didn't get much done then,
and spent this past week catching up on RL work that had
accumulated while she was gone. Cheyla got housing working in
Alaska and will likely add more doors and rooms in the future, but
it CAN stay as-is. She also added in a few more acts and answered
a variety of player questions. Croaker had an unexpectedly
overwhelming work schedule so was unable to get anything done.
Kae hunted a bug unsuccessfully which causes her area to hang
somewhere in the boot phase.

Rusalka was busy with finals and visiting relatives. However, she
did turn in her Crusades tester report, help Natalia with the
testmud and Cheyla with housing costs, did a couple online string
requests and question answerings. Vannessa was online for the
first time in a while (yay!) and actually helped players with a
few things, and routed the ones that she couldn't help to other
authorities. LadyAce was generally on vacation but did have a
chance to finish making a number of adjustments to Crusades,
including more teaching acts and descriptions. She also worked a
little on Klein, mostly dealing with exits.

Sandra fixed things in pittsburgh, added some weather related room
descriptions, a few E descs on objects, etc. Kaige fixed typos in
a wide variety of areas, and fixed some bugs in various acts. She
also clarified a few things in the builder documentation.

CODING:

Ea! was out of town and didn't have time to do anything.

Chocorua finished the immortal connect and reconnect messages so
they show invis level if you are invis. Huginn was out of town
most of the week in NC, but he did some restrings and put some
more thought into vehicles, and got a few things working. Snapper
did some restrings and helped someone install a door in their
house.

Kaige fixed a number of code typos, moved unimped skills so they
don't show up to players, and added some tools for builders. In
addition, she added in a color set ALL option that uses the same
inputs (words) as color set prompt, etc. These types also now
report the syntax and acceptable words if you type a number in the
last argument as well.

PLAYER RELATIONS:

LadyAce did an LT & the standard list of online duties, strings,
restrings, etc.

Flagg spent some time online. He did support for the HOL update,
talked to players about getting into HOL and helped a player with
wedding plans. Natalia is increasingly busy RL with work and
school, but did the usual round of strings/restrings, talked with
some people about matters ic/ooc, and generally tried to be
helpful. Dominic has returned to civilian life, and should be
around more for the next while. Chimera did the usual strings and
restrings, looked into several administrative situations while no
admin imms were online, ran question for cookie and planned
another set of conundrums. He also talked to several newbies about
their first impressions of Legend, and made the rules clear to
some others.

Memorial

On Friday the 14th of May, Chimera conducted a short memorial
service/poetry reading in honor of late poet Shel Silverstein. The
event was held in the garden of rememberance ooc, and was attended by
Genocide, BrookLynn, Jonathan, Benjamin, Elisa, and Blackthorne. (To
any omitted from this list, my apologies.) Most of these mortals also
read their Shel Silverstein poem of choice.

On the Subject of Pkill
A response to Mo's pkill talk in the latest LT

I think Mo did an excellent job in explaining what an immort should
tell you when you clan. Most of them do in fact state that you are
pretty much open to any other clanned's vengeance. The problem is the
ongoing assault some pkill enabled players seem to take on other pkill
enabled for absolutely no rp justification. Sure there are those that
may be the "deranged serial killer" that will basically attack on sight
anyone pkill enabled.

But they don't really rp. They will only kill if they are fully healed
-- they don't have any deranged mentality when you talk with them. In
fact, they only claim a derangement when they have systematically
hunted down their prey for the kill. And then they claim some sort of
rp. I know we can't have a perfect environment for everyone, but I
just wish more pkillers would rp a justification for death. Btw I
think there is a player that uses a descrip as "Deranged serial killer"
and if so, I was not referring to that player specifically.

LegendMeet in Michigan!

Ok, unless you have been living under a rock, or hibernating, you
should know by now that Michigan will be hosting a Legend Meet the
weekend of August 20-22. Alot of the information has been posted on the
News Board, I encourage you to to read them. At this point, we are
still getting some prices for hotels, and also looking into "renting" a
large vehicle so we can "shuttle" everyone at once.

We hope everyone can arrive to Michigan on Friday, and in time to go
out, we always go to this restaurant/bar type place, and a group of us
karaoke, and we have a blast, but if you can't make it on Friday,
that's ok, we still have the rest of the weekend. Saturday, we are
still debating, we have some things in mind, we just need to look
further into somethings and confirm things, but I am sure whatever we
decide to do, we will have a blast!!

If anyone has any suggestions, or ideas, or if there is something in
Michigan you always wanted to see, please, let us know...that could
probably be arranged. We want to accomodate everyone as best as
possible, please know that, and we are really trying to keep costs down
as much as possible. Please give me some feedback tho, I need to know
what everyone is thinking or feeling, I dont wanna let anyone down, in
any way.

ALSO, there will be T-shirts available, I can get a great deal,
if i can get an order of 20 shirts, I can get the cost as low as $10,
and you cant beat that...I thought we could make things a little
interesting, we are still debating how we want to design our T-shirts,
so we thought it would be a good idea, if everyone gave their ideas, by
appending to the news board with your ideas ONLY, and then we all vote
on what we want for our shirts, the winner gets a free T-shirt.

I will have a post on the board regarding this and would really
appreciate your participation. Its also coming to a point now, where I
need to know how many are coming, so I know how many rooms to reserve
for, and it would be nice to know who is driving, and who is flying in,
so we can make arrangements to pick people up at the airport, PLEASE,
simply mudmail me, telling me you are coming, and how you are getting
here, so I know, I appreciate your support, this will make it alot
easier for us.

This is everyone's Meet, and everyone deserves to have a great time,
and its our job to try to make that happen, and that's what I plan to
do! I think I covered anything, I will keep everyone updated, via the

This week in pkill included a rather new sort of event -- on Thursday,
May 20th, Sir Ganymede held a Q & A on the Knights, and their Code. The
Knights Q & A was a time for both explanations and arguments, and the
airing of both grievances and suggestions for the clan, their RP, their
conduct, their past, and their future. Anyone with questions about the
Knights but who was unable to attend the session, is encouraged to
contact Sir Ganymede via mudmail, or drop a tell to any Knight.

On the other end of the moral spectrum, the Dark Enforcers gained
members this week, including the daughter of Ronnie Valthalas -- Aliana
Valthalas. Aliana completed a quest to prove her loyalty and
worthiness, and gained acceptance into their ranks despite her past
reluctance. The DEs also lost a member, as LeatherFace chose to
separate from the Enforcers.

One of this week's notable victories was Larnoc over Barabas. It's not
often that the reigning heavyweight champion is seen on the losing side
of an info (much to Barabas's credit!) -- congratulations to Larnoc.

Violation

A slow-moving form shuffled down the road, laden down with seemingly
overfilled mugs and skins, towards the home of his son. Iggy stopped
occasionally to rest his back, which was slowly becoming more ready to
complain as the years went on. After all, he was nearly three hundred
years old. As he made his slow way down the road, he noticed a thin
column of smoke on the horizon.

"Ahh, he's got the fire ready for my old bones," thought Iggy, savoring
the thought of rest beside the fire almost as much as he would savor
actually resting beside the fire. As he approached the homestead,
however, the column of smoke grew in size until he knew that it was no
simple house-fire. "Ahh, he must be burning some leaves in the
back-yard, I like the smell of burning leaves." Iggy sniffed the air
for the autumnal smell of burning foliage, but could smell nothing
besides the late-blooming wildflowers and the crisp fall air.

Iggy's peaceful mind broke once he reached the road leading directly
into the house. The house itself was a raging inferno, flames licking
hungrily at the outside walls, its hunger not satiated by the meal
within. Iggy dropped his burdens and broke into a run unseemly of an imp
his age, quickly reaching the site of the fire.

Once he reached the doorway he fell to his knees in anguish, before the
door were two sturdy pikes set into the ground, and upon them were the
burned and half-eaten remains of his son and daughter-in-law.

A frantic thought flashed through the old man's mind.."The kids...
where are my grandchildren.."

Summoning his strength the old man gathered the winds and buffeted the
still-burning house until all traces of fire were swept from the
grounds in the gale-force gusts. He dashed through the
still-smouldering ruins of his son's home for his grandchildren, or the
remains of them, but found nothing.

Later, the old man buried the mangled bodies of his child and his
child's wife underneath a nearby willow tree, limbs swaying in the
wind, mourning the dead.

Fire welled up beneath the reddish-grey wrinkled brow of the old mage,
a burning unknown to him before, it coursed through his veins making
his eyes swim in a sea of blood, his heart pound a beat long lost in
the mist of age. He lusted for the death of the enemy, the ruiner, the
violator He knew who had done this, his half-brother Stogie, the ugly
mar on the face of his loose-knit family.

Stogie sat on a wooden stump, sharpening a spit while keeping a hungry
eye on the four babes in an enchanted sleep piled on the cavern floor.
Vile thoughts drifted unchallenged behind his muddled brow, thoughts of
dinner, of his brother, mother, death...

"Thems good eatin' I says, lookit they're sof'en plump each onnem,
makes a good dinner, thems four." Stogie rarely had anyone to talk to
after he killed his mother, so he had the habit of talking to himself,
not that anyone living knew, anyhow.

"Mmm, I's get some impmeat when me's brudder comes, oh he's gonna come
I tell ye, he's comin here now I says, mighty angry, but I's know what
to do, yes, I's know, I's give him fire like I gives his childrens, I
shows him lotta me friends, he's roast duck." Stogie grinned and
chortled at his joke, listening for any signs of his brother's
arrival.

Iggy sat very, very still atop a bald hill, gathering himself. Faint
lines of power flowed from the earth to surround him, light from the
heavens coalesced around him, he glowed a faint blue in the dusk of an
autumn day. Mumbling half-heard words of power, Iggy sat like a wizened
statue as red flecks of fire swarmed around him, the very earth began
to soften and melt, small rocks and debris very slowly levitated as the
mage gathered his power from the earth and the heavens.

Iggy opened his eyes. A moment later, in the blink of an eye he was
screaming forwards at an astonishing pace through the air, his trail of
power behind him like the tail of a comet with a center so bright it
burns your eyes to look at it. Faster and faster he roared through the
countryside, leaving a wake of charred grass and smouldering trees.

Stogie looked up from his work as he heard a faint rumbling in the
distance, eyes searching from the cave's mouth for any signs of life.
Dropping his spit and knife, Stogie stepped outside the mouth of the
cave, already trails of energy following him like obedient snakes,
growing and multiplying until the air was thick with waving tentacles
of power. Small motions of his hand brought towering monoliths from
the earth, shaking the ground with their arrival, arms and legs forming
from the bone-dry rock. The air slowly filled with the soft but deadly
calls of the air sprites, translucent bodies pirouetting through the
sky, voices thrilling with power.

The mages neared each other, Stogie advancing slowly with his army in
tow, Iggy screaming onward like a wayward meteor. In an instant, the
brothers met with a sound like a monstrous thunderclap, shattering some
of the smaller earth golems into a thousand pieces. Scorching fire
raged through the area, burning the golems to brittle earth and
gale-force winds shook them apart, air sprites screaming in agony as
they were hideously torn apart by the ravaging storm of molten earth.
Stogie's army was disintegrating beneath the awesome power of the old
mage's fire storm, the half-ogre himself singed through his multiple
layers of conjured armor. Soon the unearthly calls of the sprites
died away, the earthshaking footsteps of the golems faded into
nothingness, Stogie was left alone on the plain with his brother, his
shining armor of light rended apart, Iggy's robes in tatters from the
onslaught of fire.

"You jackass," was all Iggy was able to get out before he let loose a
forest of of light beams in a rage, each one striking the half-ogre in
turn, knocking the bastard ogre-mage well over twenty yards backward
before hitting the charred remains of a tree with a sickening thump.

The mage steadied himself for the killing blow. He looked up into the
night sky, calling the power of the celestial bodies for their power,
focusing it into one needle-thin beam directed at the prone body of the
ogre-mage. A split second before the beam struck, the body vanished in
a puff of greasy smoke, just enough time for Iggy to see it. A split
second later the beam struck the tree where the body had lain
instantaneously before. What felt like a massive earthquake shook the
earth for miles around, shockwaves broke the windows of any
unfortunately nearby houses, trees shivered into splinters, a gaping
crater was formed where the body had just lain, a smoking hole
testifying to the immeasureable rage beneath the old mage's calm
demeanor.

Iggy stood at the lip of the crater, gazing at the smoking ruin
beneath him. He took a silent vow to avenge his son and daughter,
no matter how terrible the price.

Cries from the sheltered cave broke the wizened imp's concentration on
revenge. Small, indistinct cries welled up from the direction of the
cave, the children had been awakened by the massacre outside.

Iggy turned and ran to his grandchildren.

of summer myself. Trashy novels and sunburns, that's the summer to me.

Q - 'What is your favorite meal?'
A - 'I'm really into tofu. I like to eat healthy meals, keep myself in
shape.'

Q - 'Really? That's quite admirable.'
A - 'No it isn't. I'm being sarcastic. I have nothing to eat with. I'm
just a rivet.'

Q - 'To what animal, or plant, would you compare yourself to?'
A - 'What's wrong with comparing to a mineral? I'm more like a rock, or
some lazy lizard than anything else.'

Q - 'What would you say irritates you the most?'
A - 'When people sit there where I live and complain there aren't enough
of me to go around. If I complained that about you, you'd get quite
upset too!'

Q - 'If you could have anything in the world right now, what would it
be?'
A - 'A mouth, to eat with. Either that or a brain.'

Q - 'What would your dream house look like if it were real?'
A - 'It'd be a small shack with a good door, people are always stealing
my relatives. I don't want that to continue happening.'

Q - 'What would be the worst thing that could happen to you right now?'
A - 'Being melted down for scrap metal. I shouldn't like to be turned
into a license plate.'

Q - 'If you could invent a new word, what would it be?'
A - 'Uhmm, I can't even speak and now you ask me to invent words?'

Q - 'If you could go back in time to talk to someone, who would it be?'
A - 'Whoever it was that decided my family was a quantity of items to be
used in the process of melting ore. It hurts to watch a loved one melt
away.'

Q - 'If you could change something in the world today, what would it be?'
A - 'I think I'd make it so my family wasn't used as scrap metal.'

Q - 'A few last word for our readers?'
A - 'Stop using me, treat me like a person, not an object! I have
feelings too!!'

A Plea for Help

It is now with humbleness and pleading that I beg for the help of
Legend.

As you know I have fought all my life to destroy the race of the
walking dead known as the Vampire. In my fight, I let my guard down and
I was bitten, and became one of the night creatures.

I knew not who bit me. But it is very important now that I do find
out. If I don't find out by the next new moon, I will have to seccumb
to the darkness. With that I feel I will destroy the one I love, the
one who has vowed to stay by my side throughout all of this, my wfie
WhiteRose.

No one should be put through this agony, the only one who can stop it
is the one who put me through it.

This week, for you, I've interviewed Minako. She is quite a nice person
like everyone I know here at LegendMUD. I hope that you will enjoy the
reading!

Name: Minako Awooga
Occupation: Surgeon

Q - 'What would you say irritates you the most?'
A - 'I have a few of those. I think my biggest pet peeve is bleeding. I
can't STAND to see someone bleed! It's hard to say something that I truly
don't like because I try to keep peace in my heart. I get irritated
occasionally, when someone doesn't follow directions on something major like
SL, and it endangers the whole group, but I tend to calm down after a bit
and forget it.'

Q - 'What is your favorite meal?'
A - 'Salads. But my favorite food is CHOCOLATE!'

Q - 'To what plant/animal would you compare your soul to?'
A - 'On first instinct I'd say a kitten because I am very playful and
fun-loving but I can defend myself when crossed. Well, kind of if the
person's not too tough. Uh, hmm. But I run well. I've had to learn
to over the years.'

Q - 'If you could go on vacation right now, where would you like to go?'
A - 'Somewhere totally private with West, so we could ACTUALLY have some
time together without a bunch of people pulling us in different directions.'

Q - 'What do you think of Mrti?'
A - 'Part of me feels bad for him because of his job. Part of me hates Mrti
because when I lose a patient it's because of him.'

Q - 'If you could go back in time, would you change anything?'
A - 'That is a very tough one. As much as part of me says yes, the main
answer is no. I am happy today, and my life is complete.'

to spot, but I just seem to end up going in circles.'

things in my life, I would love to relive them again in my dreams.'

most of the people interviewed were picked randomly.

I am open to interviewing people on requests as long as there is a good
reason (example: the person is well known, is a GM, is an old legend player,
is a person who achieved something extraordinary or other valuable reasons).
I do give myself the right to decline requests if be needed, but doubt I
will decline any.

Do not forget that you may send in some questions that you would like me to
ask to my guest. Just take a piece of paper, write them down, and mud mail
it to me.
