We hope all our U.S. players are having a great holiday weekend! And of&lt;br /&gt;
course we hope everyone else is having a great weekend too! The end of&lt;br /&gt;
Summer is officially here. School is back in session and a lot of people&lt;br /&gt;
are finding their schedules once again shifting.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This weekend also wraps up our 2003 Summer Odyssey. The builders were&lt;br /&gt;
able to mark off 1723 entries from their todo list! It might not seem&lt;br /&gt;
like much, but the list is long and some entries are more complicated&lt;br /&gt;
than others. Every installed area got touched this summer in one way or&lt;br /&gt;
another - all in all a great effort from the building department!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Again, we hope that everyone has enjoyed the Summer Odyssey and you all&lt;br /&gt;
have been having fun exploring the changes and will keep the ideas coming&lt;br /&gt;
all year!&lt;br /&gt;

On Friday, August 22, the Washed Up Losers Clan was disbanded for low&lt;br /&gt;
membership.&lt;br /&gt;

The Prophets have remained the clan with the most active members in pkill&lt;br /&gt;
over the last two weeks. The Grendels and the Infernals are the clans&lt;br /&gt;
with the next most active members involved in pkill. The Knight of Legend&lt;br /&gt;
and the Legend Armed Forces also had members active in pkill over the&lt;br /&gt;
last two weeks. Other clans respresented on the fields of battle&lt;br /&gt;
included: The Syndicate, Fields of Albion The Society of Allies, Seven&lt;br /&gt;
Circles, the Avengers, the Institute of Healing Arts, the Necromancers&lt;br /&gt;
and the Order of the Scroll.&lt;br /&gt;

           The Story of a Yellow-eyed Mercenary and a Princess&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Right before I actually had a chance to attack, I was dead. Jasra's final&lt;br /&gt;
breath is heard all around the world, thanks to an unseelie sidhe! Okay&lt;br /&gt;
so I entered a room I wasn't supposed to enter. Oh well. The problem is -&lt;br /&gt;
I can't get my stuff!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Can someone help me?' I ask, loudly.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Watcha need?' someone answers.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'My stuff?'&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Anyway, this yellow-eyed mercenary comes to the rescue. A total stranger&lt;br /&gt;
but as desperate as I am... I don't bring it up. Once we get to the room&lt;br /&gt;
before it, the mercenary goes to the room the fight of the sidhes so I&lt;br /&gt;
can get my stuff. By the time he's done, well half done, he is almost&lt;br /&gt;
dead. So we wait a bit and he goes there again. While he's fighting for&lt;br /&gt;
his life, he says....&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Are you sure you died here?'&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Yes, why,' I say back.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Well then you better let someone know because your corpse or stuff isn't&lt;br /&gt;
here!'&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'WHAT?!?!' At this moment, I feel like I'm... nothing. I didn't die that&lt;br /&gt;
long ago for my stuff to disappear. Once again he doesn't finish the&lt;br /&gt;
sidhes.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Where are you?' he asks me.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Same place I was before,' I answer.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'You're not there, I went past the room where you died a million times and&lt;br /&gt;
you're not there. You must be invisible then. Say something.'&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Something,' I say, just like I was told to. Now I'm worried, my stuff&lt;br /&gt;
isn't there, and I can't move because I only have one way I can go and&lt;br /&gt;
that way is to the sidhes. Not a good way to go. After some long time, we&lt;br /&gt;
figured out that he was on the other side. Once we came together again, he&lt;br /&gt;
said to me that he has an idea.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Do you have any scrolls or something in your corpse?' he asked me.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Yes, I have 2 or 3 scrolls, the ones that recall you to the last inn you&lt;br /&gt;
visited.' I said to him.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Okay, then here's the plan, I go and try to kill the sidhes, when I say&lt;br /&gt;
so, you come and get your stuff.' He exclaims. ' Drop one scroll in case&lt;br /&gt;
I can't get out, and use the other to get yourself out.' That sounded like&lt;br /&gt;
a good plan to me. But you had to work quickly. Once he leaves for the&lt;br /&gt;
sidhes...&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'NOW,' he yells! I run down as quickly as I can, and get ready to get my&lt;br /&gt;
stuff.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'HURRY!' he yells loudly! Since I don't work well when I'm rushed, by the&lt;br /&gt;
time I got my things, he already killed the sidhes. Okay, I got all my&lt;br /&gt;
stuff and look into my bag to get the scrolls...&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'Uh-oh' I whisper to myself, 'Oh no.'&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'What?' he asks.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'My scrolls,' I whimper. I don't know why but I kind of felt like&lt;br /&gt;
laughing. He gives me a potion and tells me to quaff it - he can get out&lt;br /&gt;
by himself. I quaff the potion and appear in the Silver branch inn (to be&lt;br /&gt;
more specific - the reception). I feel like I just want to fall down and&lt;br /&gt;
just lie there - thankful to have my equipment back! I sit up and start&lt;br /&gt;
digging through my bag and my inventory to make sure that nobody took&lt;br /&gt;
anything in the last hour that we were working on this. Soon the&lt;br /&gt;
yellow-eyed mercenary arrives.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
'How could I ever thank you,' I exclaim. After I ask that, I don't&lt;br /&gt;
exactly get an answer but the story continues about how a yellow-eyed&lt;br /&gt;
mercenary almost sacrificed himself for the princess of Amber!!!!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

                         Wish You Were Here&lt;br /&gt;

*A faint sound of static, not unlike an untuned radio, gradually&lt;br /&gt;
increasing*&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*A distant, raised voice just on the cusp of hearing, shouting in&lt;br /&gt;
frustration*&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;quot;-----l!... -a---l!... -ar--l!!...&amp;quot; *indecipherable angry murmuring, but&lt;br /&gt;
growing progressively louder* &amp;quot;-ar-el!! C-n you -loody well hear me!&lt;br /&gt;
MARCEL!!&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Good grief, itsss about time - my kneesss are killing me! Do you have any&lt;br /&gt;
idea how long I've been kneeling in thisss bloody pentagram? Not exactly&lt;br /&gt;
the easiest mode of communication isss it, you wouldn't believe how much&lt;br /&gt;
earwax it takesss to make just one dribbly candle, let alone five...&lt;br /&gt;
*grumble**mutter**curse* Ssstill, desperate timesss require desperate&lt;br /&gt;
measuresss - no postboxesss down here, and no candlesss...&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*Flickering light swirls around whirlpool-like before expanding to&lt;br /&gt;
reveal... Black. Slimy black walls. Crusted black ceiling. Filth-strewn&lt;br /&gt;
black floor. The thick, iron bars are black, the hard wooden cot is black&lt;br /&gt;
and the disheveled figure kneeling in the middle of the cell is pretty&lt;br /&gt;
much entirely black.*&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Ah, visualsss, lovely. Not bad for a first attempt... please do excuse my&lt;br /&gt;
current ssstate Marcel, it'sss been a trying couple of...&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

run out of wall ssspace. Anyway, I've run a little foul of the powersss&lt;br /&gt;
that be, here in Carian Trag. Sssome nonsense about a little money that&lt;br /&gt;
went missing, or sssomething like that. Total rot, anyway, and they've&lt;br /&gt;
kept me cooped up down here since. It'sss given me plenty of time to&lt;br /&gt;
think, and, ahhh, I've been wondering... well, if you might let me join&lt;br /&gt;
your errr... organisation... Now, now, don't look like that, don't be too&lt;br /&gt;
hasty&lt;br /&gt;

in making a decision. Think about what I might be able to offer first...&lt;br /&gt;
Collecting donationsss from all those sssinnersss out there isss a&lt;br /&gt;
ssspecialty of mine, and I'm sssure I could tithe a portion to help&lt;br /&gt;
maintain your earthly digsss. I've picked up a few ssskillsss in the art&lt;br /&gt;
of sssurgery over the yearsss, which might be of use to your mortal&lt;br /&gt;
minionsss, and I can even fight a bit if I'm pushed into a corner and&lt;br /&gt;
threatened with a ssstick (although in truth I'd rather run away).&lt;br /&gt;

                    A Few Thoughts... And So On&lt;br /&gt;

Okay, so let's get inside my mind for a little while. Hello, I'm Duckon,&lt;br /&gt;
also known as Ducky. I go by both. Usually, I'm Ducky when I am weak and&lt;br /&gt;
pretty stupid looking. Anyway, though, let's get inside my head. I don't&lt;br /&gt;
know what I have become. All the fleeing is unnecessary if you ask me.&lt;br /&gt;
And all that magic crap... wow. Too much stuff to learn! So, maybe I'm&lt;br /&gt;
just lazy. Yeah?  Well, that cant be the case! I've been working out,&lt;br /&gt;
building up my strength. I figure after awhile a guy's gotta change his&lt;br /&gt;
fighting techniques the RIGHT way if he wants to win. I've been doing it&lt;br /&gt;
all wrong. I have tried six different times. And hopefully this will be&lt;br /&gt;
the last.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Okay, so let's get into the other side of my mind. Okay, so the other day&lt;br /&gt;
I took a little vacation. Yeah, well I sailed myself. All of a sudden I'm&lt;br /&gt;
at the end of the world and I crash!! Okay then I look up and I'm back to&lt;br /&gt;
normal again? Isn't that weird!?! Okay, so I continued my journey. And,&lt;br /&gt;
after a while I looked around... and .. and did not know where I was.&lt;br /&gt;
Well, I didn't want to feel like an idiot for not remembering my way&lt;br /&gt;
around the seas. I've sailed the seas since I was a wee, ladlike, little,&lt;br /&gt;
young, kiddy boy!  And not once did I get lost as I was saaiiilinng. So,&lt;br /&gt;
I just drifted around mile by mile. Ya know, something to do when you're&lt;br /&gt;
lost beyond your control... is playing dice with yourself!! Why I was&lt;br /&gt;
entertained for hours on end! Then I ran into a pirate, who after a few&lt;br /&gt;
games of armwrestling was kind enough to send me home. Isn't that great?&lt;br /&gt;
He sure was ugly though! My apolgies, my apoligies. I meant that in the&lt;br /&gt;
nicest way possible. Oh, of course I did!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Well, a little glimpse into my mind, into my life. I think that's enough&lt;br /&gt;
for one day. Any more will turn ya crazy!!&lt;br /&gt;

                     The Winds of the Past, part III&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Jani brought Ransom up to the house and sat him at the head of the small&lt;br /&gt;
table. The food nearly filled the entire thing, and the smell was&lt;br /&gt;
something that made his mouth water. Kirva had prepared roasted mutton,&lt;br /&gt;
fresh corn and potatoes from the field, and a honey and cracked wheat&lt;br /&gt;
bread that he had smelled earlier.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Jani and Kirva asked many questions about how he was knighted, and about&lt;br /&gt;
who his knight had been, seeing as he had left with Sir Vhache, and&lt;br /&gt;
somehow ended up squired to a lady knight. Jani was particularly&lt;br /&gt;
interested in how he was trained, and how thouroughly, by the lady&lt;br /&gt;
knight, with a wink and a lecherous grin at Ransom. Ransom defended his&lt;br /&gt;
honor and that of the lady knight with adamant vigor and the large&lt;br /&gt;
red-head was forced to apologize by his wife with a threat that only&lt;br /&gt;
wives can make. The laughed that this caused lasted well into the&lt;br /&gt;
evening. Many passersby stopped in to see what was causing such&lt;br /&gt;
joviality, only to hug Ransom or thump him on the back in welcome home.&lt;br /&gt;
Stories were told, and more laughter ensued over times that Ransom had&lt;br /&gt;
been chased away from sisters by upset brothers, or times that Ransom had&lt;br /&gt;
been unwittingly been led to meet daughters by scheming mothers, and more&lt;br /&gt;
than a few times, both in the same day. Often during the evening Ransom&lt;br /&gt;
needed to wipe his eyes on his tunic to clear the tears that came from&lt;br /&gt;
laughing too much.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Early the next day, Ransom would begin his journey to Malta, and back to&lt;br /&gt;
his love, but tonight was a time of remembering simpler times. The winds&lt;br /&gt;
of the past blow swiftly by, and a chance to ride that wind, for even one&lt;br /&gt;
night, is to give the soul wings to fly, and with these wings, the&lt;br /&gt;
courage to look to the future.&lt;br /&gt;
