ADMIN: Sandra did the usual online stuff, gave out a few warnings and talked with people about rules. She tried to find a missing board file and pkenabled a few people. Chocorua talked to a few people about rules, and investigated some suspicious activity. Dominic talked to players about rules and balance issues, and removed some board messages and illusions, mostly for the information contained therein. Flagg did normal online things. Wraith wasn't around too much last week, but did enable a few characters and unpurged one or two others. He went through boards like normal. He reimbursed some items missing from a house, and also started working on the help file bugs from last week. Zandy did the usual admin stuff: a string, talking to players. BUILDING: Rufus spent a lot of time working on builder-related code and documentation changes. He also fixed some bugs and made some alterations to pirates. Cheyla unfortunately got no work done on her area this week. She was online a little and kept up with the various discussions on boards and stuff. Croaker put in a significant amount of work on Greece, and continued tweaking economic type stuffs in his other areas. He addressed all bug reports for his areas. Flagg mostly worked on the HOL update. Joule is looking at her areas's basic maps for logical housing areas. She's going to start reading docs and trying to figure out this new stuff. Kae fought with her testmud a LOT, but found some errors that'd been annoying her a while (thanks Sandra). She began to fiddle around with housing room descriptions and read up on the docs. Kheldar worked on his trade area and made a tweak to Romania. He asked a few questions and requested a few new builder commands Sabella did more work on Milan. She did a little bit more with extended descriptions and began the basic mob descriptions. She had a little bit of on-line time, but not a lot, but helped Tad with some furniture strings, couple other strings, answered a question or two. Rusalka did more testing on Crusades and started testing Pittsburgh. She worked some more at the bug list for tudor and answered various player queries and questions on-line. Vannessa got Linux up and running on her system, and started working on her office and sent the prelim to Kaige. Wraith didn't have time to do much last week. He did look at Milan for Sabella. LadyAce got through a big list of typo/syntax/etc fixes from Rusalka on crusades, and checked exits in Klein, rearranging and such as she went. Sandra continued testing on Crusades, sent some notes to LadyAce on it. She also helped Kae with a problem in her area file. In Pittsburgh, she added lots and lots of acts for the ballgame, tweaked some mob acts and damage and put in a few more toys to play around with. She also added a few more rooms to Scandanavia to allow for housing. Details are on the welcome board. Kaige helped people with building questions and made a number of changes and fixes in French/Indian War, the London Port, Arabia, San Fran, Aztecs, South Seas, and Medieval seas. CODING: Ea! made lots of bug fixes and did some more ownership tweaking. He also changed redeem so that you could get pretitles, made it so helpfiles aren't case sensitive, fixed the bug where people would loose str twice sometimes if they used rem all and had a +str weapon, and he also made it so the coder list gets some information when the mud crashes. Chocorua updated his codebase at home. Huginn made a small bug fix for steal, but has been busy due to some RL problems. Snapper did a couple restrings and unarchives. He also tracked down a very wierd bug in his copy of the Tudor area. Rufus spent a great deal of time working on system internals cleaning things up and hopefully speeding things up. He also added some new builder utilities and builder related code along with some bug fixes. Kaige fixed some bugs, and added some new features for builder. She also made it so that if you have info off, but SEEDEATH and SEELEVEL configurations on, you still see deaths and levels. PLAYER RELATIONS: LadyAce did her normal set of assignments -- LT, Q & A -- and a tinyplot on Saturday. She also did the standard online stuff. Chimera wasn't around much but ran a flaghunt, and worked offline on his part of the ooc expansion. Dominic got the stock investment competition started, rearranged furniture in housing, and answered some housing-related questions. Flagg did normal online things. Joule is working on a variety of games for St Patty's day. She did a couple of restrings and spent time morting to learn the changes we've made in the geography of the mud. <*><-><*><-><*><-><*><-><*><-><*><-> Prize Machine Contest! I'm running another contest for the prize machine -- this time the item is headwear rather than shirts, but the idea is the same. You think up the best, most clever, attractive, or hilarious headworn item you can, and I'll pick my favorites for inclusion in the prize machine. As an added bonus, winners will get their design strung to their headworn item, or a prize token to try their luck with other people's ideas. All entries are due by system midnight, March 21. Mertjai Awooga, USL GM /*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\ To my Dearest Mertjai, My love, my sweetheart, the light of my life, you and I have been married only a short time, and yet I feel as if we have been together forever. When we first met, I fell in love for you instantly. I fell for your intellect, your wit, strength of character, and yes, for your beauty. I also loved that you did not press for details of my past. I asked you not to, and you respected my request. I feel that it is time for me to come clean, to tell you what I was not able to before. It so disturbs me that you do not know. We have not discussed your first fiance, Wynter. I know it pains you to hear his name, but I must mention him here. I met him on one occasion, he was a good man. He loved you. He did not deserve his end. As for the man who ended his life, Skateboarder, I knew him. I knew him well. I know not what the consequences will be for my confession, but it must be done. May the Gods help me and give me guidance. Mertjai, I was the lover of the man who killed Wynter. Skateboarder and I were together for many months. This pains me so! Only after the death of your fiance did I realize the true nature of my lover. I fled. I shunned him. I wanted nothing to do with such a man! I felt deep and true sympathy for you. This is why I sought you out to give you my condolences, to offer a shoulder to cry on. Then, I was in love with you, and I could not bring myself to tell you this horrible secret! You and your family, the Awooga, have been so good to me. I feel terrible that I was not more open with you. I hope that you will find it in your heart to forgive me, to allow me the honor of standing at your side. Please remember I love you. Yours, Nadya /*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\ Strolling Through the Crypt It was a dark night, as I was walking through the Abbey crypt when I saw it. A spellsinger and a gunman walking through some secret passage. I was quite terrified as I slipped into the shadows and began to hide. The bigger of the two went through the passage, and only the dark gunman was left. As this man lit a match to start a small fire, I noticed how young he was, and how easily I could kill him. I began quietly sneaking through the shadows of the dark and dim crypt. As I neared his back I heard movement, so I quickly rolled back into the shadows and started to hide again. As I looked, it was again the spellslinger, followed by some psychotic man with a chainsaw. I knew I was no match for the three, so I waited. When the three left, I simply had to know who they were, and what was beyond the hidden passage. So I quietly moved the door and picked the lock open. When I opened the door I was very amazed at what I saw. But I must admit, the poster of Elvira made me laugh. There was a small pentagram lying on top of the dark alter, I quickly shoved it into my pocket. That's when I heard a very distant sound, I quickly got a piece of paper from my bag, and wrote a single word on it, then placed it where I had found the pentagram. I then quickly left, and went to a much more peaceful setting in the trees of Tara. The note read as follows: WAR. /*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\ The Sounds and Silence of Canada Though quiet this place may seem, Compared to the bustle of England And the hustle of Spain, 'Tis quite the noisy place When one listens to the silence. Peepers create a cacophony of noise, Broken only by the occasional owl's hoot Or a spring rain's lulling patter. Crickets chirp in the summer's eve, Companions to the winking lights of fireflies. Fish jump and splash among the slopping waters of the river, An occasional sound heard from the swaying dock On a balmy summer night. The loud bellows of a moose's call Echo upon the wind rustling the leaves On a cool afternoon in the fall. With the winter comes the soft sound Of snow falling to the ground, Glowing with the pale pinks and greens Of the rippling northern lights. It may be silence to the ears of a foreigner, Used to the rattling of wagon wheels And vendors calling out their wares. But to me, it is the sound of home. Mice of Angesley /*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\ Aliana Valthalas She walked in through the east, the shadows humming around her with a force beyond that of human comprehension. The spirit of the underworld's evil was in her eyes, and she was drunk with the power to strike fear in the hearts of those lesser beings. She was the Daughter of the Darkness herself. She took no mercy on her prisoners, who consisted of Knights, Shotokai, and anyone who happened to get in her way on a bad day. The Light was what she lived to destroy, and she got wonderful delight in this. Pure evil ran in her veins in the place of blood. Her brilliant smile was deceiving. A lucky few got a second glance, the rest, not even a blink. She has high standards, and a man has yet to walk the earth where he can capture her heart. Her spirit, however evil, can never be contained, so I recommend you do not try. Doing so can only result in failure and possibly even death, should you push the limit. Dark energy crackles around her like fireworks, and you know that the Dark Lord is pleased with her. She is proud, and will never be taken down without a fight, if at all. She has no weakness, and yet, her heart is not all stone. She leaves one small dime-sized section open for her future love. She already knows who it will be, for she is a child prophetess. Until then, it is filled by her tiny hedgehog, Breana, whom she adopted and who goes with her every where. She is not a temptress: she refuses to waste her time on men looking for a midnight fling. She has her dignity. She has a remarkable fighter spirit, and she never lets her guard down. There are only two people she truly trusts: her father, and Aisha Said. She is a beautiful creature, but looks can kill. Should you happen upon this mysterious and breath-taking creature, and if you are evil, you will be a companion to her. If you are good, well, you have my pity. --An anonymous scribe, transcript dated the month of Arhayan, and titled simply "Aliana Valthalas" /*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\*/*\ A Declaration "I'm glad you could all come today" says a tall figure in a bizarre apparel. His face is painted half blue and half black, draped in a dark blue cape, and heis wearing a hideously short kilt that displays his total lack of underwear to its fullest. "For today, I must announce something thats probably very important! We, as the Enforcers to the Dark Lord, are going to WAR!" This last statement is greeted with absolutely no applause, cheering, or even heckling from the crowd before him. Mostly because this crowd is composed entirely of stuffed dummies and chairs that have buckets painted with smiling faces on them. "We have gone to war many times in our short history, but never before on such a scale as this! For today, we go to war with them ALL! Every last light blind nonbeliever and hypocrite there is!" he proclaims loudly, strutting back and forth while bellowing in a bogus highlands accent, "from the Knights to Hermetics, from Mercenary to Shotokai, and everyone in between! They can take our lives, but they can never take our poster of Elvira, so go forth and KILL THEM!" =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -=-=-=?=- __ __ __ __ __ ______ -=-=-=-=-?-=-=-?-=-=-=?=-=- =?=-=-=- / / / / / / / / / / / __ / -=-=?=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-?-= -=-=?=- / / / / / / / /_/ / / / / / -=-=-=-?-=-=-=?=-=-?-=-=-=-=? =-=-=- / / / / / / / __ / / / / / -?-=-=-=-=-?-=-=-=-=-=-=?=-=-= -=?=- / \/ \/ / / / / / / /_/ / -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-?- =-=-= \________/ /_/ /_/ /_____/ -=-=?= by CLeo of the -=-=-= ?=-=-= -=?=-=- Circle of Angels =-?-=- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Hello everyone! This week, after being absent for a couple of months, I am back and I interviewed Jairzu, known as "A just enforcer". Enjoy the reading! Name: Jairzu Occupation: NPH member (New Player Helper) and fighter. Q - 'How did you become a New Player Helper?' A - 'Stradivari contacted me and asked me to join in. It was because even not being a NPH, I help people around, cause I remember what it was like to be a newbie or just simply inexperienced.' Q - 'If I gave you a million coins right now, what would you do with them?' A - 'I even remember what it was being a low lev char... *shudder* I really don't know, sometimes I give some away, sometimes I just spend it on foolishness... never have hoarded a fortune. I just keep some in the bank for those eventual DT.' Q - 'What was the most challenging thing you had to do in life?' A - 'I have to say: 1- helping out a complete newbie, who wanted to soak up everything in one day!, 2- Getting all my eq back after a DT at lev 44.' Q - 'If you were a kitchen's utensil, what would you be and why?' A - 'Definitely a spoon. Its the most useful of all, can eat solids and liquids with it, u can use it as a blunt knife and a stirrer. The others are limited.' Q - 'An old philosophical thought... "If a tree falls in the woods, but there is no one to hear it fall, does it still make noise?" What is your answer?' A - 'It sure makes noise... reality is not dependent on the observer, reality is.' Q - 'To what animal/plant would you compare your soul to?' A - 'Have to be a German Shepherd. It's not just any dog. German Shepherds are utterly loyal to those who give them their affection, impartial to those who are indifferent to it, and very wrathful to those who hurt the first ones.' Q - 'What is your personal opinion of the Dark Lord?' A - 'Who's the Dark Lord?' Writer's note: 'Let's hope he doesn't have to find out the hard way.' Q - 'If you could have the house of your dreams, what would it look like?' A - 'Simple, but very comfortable. One or two rooms at the most, all furnished up in wood, warm and comfortable carpets and cushions.' Q - 'If I could grant you a wish, what would it be?' A - 'I'll just have to answer as I do on my birthdays... Nothing. *likes people to give him what they want not what he expects from them* *shrug*' Q - 'A piece of advice for our readers?' A - 'Be nice to other people, because if not you'll be friendless and that's the worst thing that can happen to a person!' =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= That concludes another edition of "WHO?". I would like to remind you that most of the people interviewed were picked randomly. I am open to interviewing people on requests as long as there is a good reason (example: the person is well known, is a GM, is an old legend player, is a person who achieved something extraordinary or other valuable reasons). I do give myself the right to decline requests if be needed, but doubt I will decline any. Do not forget that you may send in some questions that you would like me to ask to my guest. Just take a piece of paper, write them down, and mud mail it to me. Until next time... May luck be on your path forever! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Legendary Times is published by the immortals of LegendMUD.
