Hey all, this is Chaykin! I'd just like to thank the players who laughed and
had fun and made Complete the Sentence such a big success last Friday night!
The response was really positive, so I will be running another game sometime
in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, here are some of the sentences and best
responses from the last game...

Fortunately, we had finally reached Midir. Unfortunately...

Ember: we were *trying* to get to Pirate's Den. :(
MoiraGwyn: we had died 5 times, and were down to 2 crippled warriors, a
link-dead surgeon, and a druid who was out of herbs
Merritt: he learned pick lock from Gawain and was running down the hall,
free and naked!

The doctor came in the room and said, 'I'm sorry you...

Nietzsche: are the weakest link. G'bye.
Dashiva: you have....to dance with me! The Hills are aliveee with the sound
of muuuussiiicccc!
Golbez: will have to come back in a day.. I've wastes all of my precious
healing powers on some weakling grendel. but have one of my business cards
in case you want to come back later!

Chad was totally confused as he read the sign...

Dashiva: there's 227 of me missing! How can that be? Mr. GORE!

Ember: McDougan performed his balance beam routine for Scotland at the
Olympics.

A Notice from Marcel

On the subject of the Institute of the Healing Arts, and ourselves,
the Seven Circles:

A lot of anger and accusations have been flung through the ether
lately from all parties involved, and a myriad of outsiders as well.
Eventually, this has led to a cesspool of sound and fury that
benefited none of the participants.

I have discussed the matter at length with Emrysia, and a variety of
people from the Institute and the Seven Circles both, and we have
reached a conclusion which stands until further notice. I request that
this verdict be respected on pain of creating a situation that none of
the parties involved desire.

The Institute of the Healing Arts comprise an organization of healers
and instructors, most of which are neither suited for, nor interested
in, pursuing the arts of war or the defeat of what may be deemed evil
or good by others. In this respect, the Institute is as dispassionate
as the doctor's scalpel -- it cuts through flesh to remedy the wound,
asking not about the wounded person nor about how the injury was
inflicted.

The Seven Circles comprise a loosely organized group of individuals with
infernal relations of several kinds; some servants, some lords, some human,
some infernal, some undead. Many pursue battle eagerly and skillfully, others
have perfected the art of running away or avoiding war altogether.

Essentially, our two organizations have no immediate reason to be in
conflict. The Institute takes no interest in our agendas, and we have no
interest in denying ourselves access to the healing arts. On occasion blades
will cross between those Institute members who pursue war and those of ours
who pursue their comrades, but this should be considered mostly
coincidental.

Therefore, it has been agreed that our clans are not, and will not be at war
against each other. While individuals may pursue personal grudges and
vendettas, the two organizations as a whole will remain neutral and encourage
good sportsmanship on both sides.

Any complaints or inquiries to the current state of affairs may be directed
to myself or to Emrysia at your earliest convenience.

Come one, come all to the emerald fields of Albion, where dandelions
shine to compete with the golden sun, and crystal ponds gleam to reflect
the silver light of a mysterious, witchery moon.

The Fields of Albion Clan invites everyone to a medieval faire to be held
on the 21st of July! Events planned include an archery contest, a jousting
tournament, and other fun things will await you there. Check back on the
news board in game for more information and the exact location.

     The Homecoming

     It was cold, under the sea, and dark. At first I walked across the rocky 
floor, the same way I had walked straight into the waves. Later I swam. I had 
expected my grandfather to meet me in his chariot. Wouldn't he have heard my 
pain in the notes of the conch, and rushed to find me, knowing how I needed 
him? But only a few fish moved in the murky water, and they swam silently by.
     I swam in the direction that my heart tugged me, as it always had, ever 
deeper, ever colder. But I couldn't get there; I never could. I cursed my 
frail human body even as it went numb, and all I could feel was the pain in 
my lungs. Had I a tail I could have swam fast enough to reach my home! Had I 
just been able to hold my breath a little longer, I am sure I would have made 
it, for I could feel that I was nearly there before I passed out.
     When I awoke, I was watching the sky rocking to and fro. I lay in a 
small wooden boat. A man leaned over the side, gathering nets. His skin was 
weathered by sun and sea air. His hands were rough and calloused. A spray of 
salt clung to his hair and whiskers. Watching him work so intensely on his 
simple chore, I fell in love. He rowed us back to the tiny island where he 
lived alone, and we were married.
     I had a simple life for many years. I cannot remember a time when I was 
happier. Every day I would watch him as he took his wooden boat out to sea 
and cast his nets. I did not think of much beyond our little island, 
surrounded by the gray ocean.
     My husband did not die out on the waves as he had wished, but at home in 
bed, with a wheeze and a rattle. My love, once so full of life, with the wind 
in his hair and the sea in his eyes, was forever gone. I wept as I washed and 
dressed his lifeless body. When I laid gold coins on his eyes, images of my 
childhood in Lima came to my mind, begging for these same glimmering discs. I 
laid him out in the wooden boat he had loved, and cast him adrift to sail 
forever.
     I walked about the tiny hut we had shared. Each object was a memory our 
life together: the pile of nets in the corner, the table where I had sat for 
so many hours cleaning fish, the hearth, the bed. I kept the flute, which he 
had carved from driftwood and used to play for me. In the closet, I found a 
broken piece of a gigantic jawbone. Triangular teeth stood out in rows along 
it -- it was a shark's. There was a worn spot at one end, which fit my hand 
perfectly. 
     As I held my old weapon in my hand, I remembered all the grand 
adventures, when I would use this jawbone to defend myself and my friends. 
And my children. I had children out there...surely they were grown by now. I 
was suddenly ashamed that I had abandoned my children for so long. I missed 
them and all my loved ones quite painfully. With my husband gone, there was 
little left for me on this island.
     It was time to go back.

First off, it's summer -- we have weddings! In a lovely afternoon ceremony
outside Tara, Project and Aphrodite were wed. Congratulate the new couple the
next time you see them! Willy Carter and BlackLace are engaged, with a
ceremony planned for 1 in the afternoon on Sunday, July 15th.

I just wanted to announce that I have adopted, yes, another child. I am proud
to be Lachdanan's mom. I love all of my children and hope that they will all
welcome Lachdanan into our little family. Lachdanan, I want you to know that
I am proud of you and hope that you will be happy as one of my children :)

What were Cenja McDuncan, Marcel Alexander, Herne the Hunter, and the Bane
Sidhe doing out there in the forest that night, not too long ago?  "They were
trotting around in animal skins, doing some odd pagan ritual", says witness.
"Herne brought the lukewarm goat's blood, it seemed to be a solstice event.
Cenja was dancing and reciting really strange, home-written poetry."

"The Bane Sidhe supplied the music. I will never hear music like that again,"
says another witness. "In fact, I will never hear anything again." Three
llamas were injured in the incident, one escaped and is now on the run. It
must be considered armed and dangerous, and possibly connected to a Colombian
drug ring. Details are sketchy, but rumors are rampant through out the Elder
Forest that the goat's was actually stale grape juice. Pink grape juice, that
is.

                            Emrysia's Tale

I was born into a small and loving family, in a remote area of Celtic
Ireland. I spent most of my childhood wandering the countryside near  my
home, picking wildflowers and learning about the various herbs and their uses
from my mother.

At the age of 17 I left home to learn more about the art of healing through
the use of herbs. I made my way to the city of Tara, confident I would find
someone there who could teach me. And so, I found myself, a shy and quiet
girl, barely more than a child, alone and friendless in Tara.

Two of the first people I met in Tara were Nanna Ravenhair and her friend Sir
Robar Royce. They taught me the ways of the world and protected me from
danger. Although neither of them had much knowledge of herbal healing, they
taught me much and greatly increased my determination to learn more.

Nanna soon became a true and trusted friend. I know I can count on her
whenever I have need. She has guided me greatly on my journey and counseled
me in the ways of the world.

I must confess for a time I was rather smitten with Robar. Although I
certainly never told him that. I had led a sheltered life until I left home,
and he was the first man to ever call me pretty, or flatter me in any way. I
soon realised that this was his way, and he flattered me no more than any
other female.

Not long after arriving in Tara, I learned about the DERT Clan. I heard that
they were a group of druids and herbal healers dedicated to teaching others
their skills. I felt certain that this was where I belonged and why I had
been drawn to Tara.

I searched out there leader, a druid named Unix, and he readily accepted me
into their midst. I spent a time with the druids of DERT, and I learned much,
yet somehow, I never quite felt that this was where I belonged. So, after a
short stay with them, I decided to leave.

I now find myself back where I started. Wondering why I felt called to Tara,
away from my family.  I still seek to further my knowledge of herbal healing,
and I seek a mentor or teacher, or group of healers to learn from, but my
search has been in vain. I know I will find what I am looking for...  one
day.

                             The Fall of Hearth

Ahhhhh, Hearth.

A land of peace, and beauty, and green growing things.  A Haven, a Sanctuary,
if you will; a place where those who have no hope can find it again.  A Land
that has never known the bite of War. Until THEY came.

They... *sigh* Who knows where they came from?  Wherever, it is in the West,
beyond the Dragon's Roost Mountains, beyond even Hess-ha, the Sea, which
surrounds the Great Island which Hearth occupies a small portion of.

They came in small numbers at first, and were, in the customs of Hearth,
welcomed as refugees and travelers have always been welcome there. Soon,
however, they began to speak out against my fair HomeLand, calling it
unclean, and the lair of Heretics and Witches. We (being the people who
populated this most beautiful of places), tried to Reason with them, to Teach
them of our ways, which is to turn away none in Need, and to Aid all.

They were Adamant, gathering in groups to hunt down those who did, or were
reputed to, work Magic, or who had traffick with Otherworldly Denizens.  As
our way is not the way of War, nor of Armed Battle, many fell before any
notable resistance could be raised. They, however, appeared to be quite
learned in War, and sent to their place of origin for those who *specialized*
in War and Killing. Imagine that, people who spend the whole of their lives
learning to kill others as a profession.

In their great numbers they came, killing all who would not profess
allegiance to the Heathen Diety whom they all claimed to follow; those who
did, or, as I said earlier, were reputed to work magic, etc., were slain
without mercy.

I rallied all who had, in their former lives, some Knowledge of War, to stem
the onslaught, or at the very least, buy time for the citizens to make their
escape. In the End, it was all for naught: They were too many, and too good
at Killing, and we were overrun.

My Court Wizard opened a hastily-wrought gate, and shoved me through, just as
the vanguard of the invading forces forced the Gate into the City of Hearth,
my Capitol, thereby saving my Life.  I awoke to find myself near another
Walled City which, upon working my one Magic, that of Translating Tongues, I
found to have the Curious Name of Kleinstadt.  Seeing that they appeared much
as those who invaded my home, I traveled far, even through the Mists of Time,
to a Land called Ire.  I have made my new home there, in hopes that someday,
I too will Know enough of War to return to Hearth and Reclaim it from those
Vile Murderers who Destroyed my People, and wipe Forever the Ensign of the
Cross, and the horrible, warlike people who call themselves Christians, from
the Land that I Love.

			    Vidar's Ramblings


Vidar meet many peoples since leaving slave colony in Siberia. Most peoples
in beginnink show horror at scars on Vidar's face and body, men starink at
Vidar or yelling tings about freak and dog, vomens screamink and pullink
children off street and yellink 'Dear God.'

Bossman Marcel not do either of dose tings, say it dose not matter 'bout
scars. Bossman let Vidar valk vit him on journey and talk vit Vidar as
person, not even seemink to mind dat Vidar sound stupid because he dose not
know langvage vell. Marcel brink Vidar into clan group, and Vidar meet many
peoples vit dat too. Some nice, others much like slave master in Siberia.

Vidar meet friend Soze in clan group. Friend Soze show Vidar much 'bout usink
axe and sword better. Friend Soze even tell Vidar he tink he not so dumb and
could learn to use herb to heal self and others, maybe even make drinks.  Dis
sometink new for Vidar as vell. In colony dey alvays tell Vidar he stupid,
and den beat and vhip Vidar 'til almost black out, but now somevine say Vidar
not stupid. Den dere be Pansi -- she pretty and tough, and Vidar like Pansi,
but Pansi like Soze -shrug- Oh vell.

Den dere be pale man Mordred. Vidar and Mordred take many trip together to
Africa and valk through Savannah, vatching for elephant traps. (Dat be
mistake Vidar never make again -- fall ees not bad, but sudden stop at bottem
ees vhat kills.) Outside clan Vidar make friend named Harandra, he be
barbarian shaman. Ve go troo and make sure German ritter not tink dey so
tough as dey tot dey be.

Dere be others dat Vidar meet, some vomens, dat smile lot and vish to talk to
Vidar, like pretty vomans vit pointy teeth, Rosaline. She tell Vidar dat
scars not matter, ve all have same blood runnink troo veins.  She talk vit
Vidar and not run and scream.

Dis ees good ting, dere be nother vone named MoiraGvyn, she be druid lady dat
vork at school place.  She ask Vidaar how he got scars, as Vidar tell her
story, man named Edric Vulf come in and attack Vidar out of novhere. Vidar
tink it take big man to attack vitout first lettink intention be known, dah?
No honour in dis vone -- MoiraGvyn try to calm tings down. Vidar calm down
and get attacked again buy self-righteous pompous vulf-man sayink he attck
beause Vidar valk vit Marcel.

If dere be reason dat Vidar should die should be on own merit, but if loyalty
to Bossman ees dat merit den okie. Vidar vould rather die because he loyal to
somevone who make excuse for vhat he ees, den vander beink like vulf-man and
sayink he vant destroy evil vhen dere more evil in vulf-man den Vidar see in
most in clan -- not all, just most -grin- Vell, in beginnink it seem dat
MoiraGvyn just take Vidar off guard and make it so vulf-man could attack, but
den she yell at vulf-man and come find Vidar to heal vounds.

Vone of scars on Vidar's face reopen.  Vulf-man call Vidar 'dog.' Dis meant
to be bad insult and ees bad. Ees vhat slave master call Vidar vhen he vould
be vhippink him. Dere be evil, vhen somevone vhip little boy and call him
'dog' just because he ees slave. Vell, Vidar not so small now, but beink
called 'dog' almost make Vidar forget head. But MoiraGvyn say Vidar not vant
be like vulf-man.  See, ting ees dat vulf-man only say dese tings vhere Vidar
can hear dem, not so everyvone else know he just bully and beink as bad as
dose he say he vant to destroy.

Somevone vonce say dat evil ees in perception -- maybe dis be troo. If dat
ees troo, den in Vodar opinion it be vulf-man dat be evil. Vidar go and sit
vit Moiragvyn and talk for long time. She ask Vidar vhy he valk vit Bossman
and be in Bossman's clan group. Vidar does not have good set answer for dis.
Only dat Bossman treat Vidar good, not call Vidar names, show Vidar peoples
who vill be friend to Vidar -shrug- if dis be evil, or bad den Vidar vill
take it.

To answer Moiragvyn's unasked qvestion, no, Vidar vill not leave clan group
of Bossman. Vill not run avay because some self-righteous man vit sword say
you leave and not get hurt. Maybe vulf-man not so secure in manhood dat he
need to try to prove to himself he be man. -shrug- mabe dis be wrong, or
maybe sword be phallic symbol -grin- Anyvay, you listen to Vidar ramble long
enough, he vill be qviet again. -leans his head down to listen to a tiny
winged imp name Joe- Oh. Joe say dat Moiragvyn needs to get rid of animal and
take Joe to sit on shoulder, or maybe scamp vant Joe to come live vit her
-rolls his eyes in Joe's direction- Dat be all ve have to say. But judge
peoples not by dere looks or by how dey talk, but maybe get to know dem and
judge by important qvalities like honesty, loyalty and honour. Tank you.

                              Diaries of Edric Wulf

My dearest Urvana,

I write thee now during a troubling time in my existence my love. A great
cataclysm befell this world one eve when I was venturing with a potential
clan mate. The world around me went dark and all things ceased to be! I had
no idea what to make of it, I was alone in this nothingness, devoid of any
true sense of self. It was as if a part of me was missing, I
felt...well..disconnected from myself somehow.

Then a raging fire roared from no where and I was cleansed of all my worldly
possessions. I was left with nothing. I was given a choice then, rebirth or
destitution. I choose rebirth for there would be no better challenge in doing
it all again. I awoke some time latter overlooking a strange compound. I was
naked except for a little sword meant for practicing, a loaf of bread, a
water skin and a lamp.  Someone must have found me and taken pity on me as
best I can figure -- there was a map drawn into the dirt next to me marking
the area. I rubbed dirt and sleep from mine eyes and sat up.
