It seems there was a little confustion over the section listed as
UPCOMING in this week's code update. It's just that, it's not included in
the current week's update, but is on the horizon and being actively
discussed by the immortals. We posted the update list a day early to give
people a chance to read, digest and bring questions about those changes
to the Q&A on Thursday. 

There were also some more upcoming changes, those for create mages,
mentioned during the Q&A last Thursday, that are included in the upcoming
section in the RECENT UPDATES section for this issue. If you want to know
more, the log from that Q&A session has been posted to the web. Check it
out!

             March Madness Tinyplot - (Un)Lovable Leprechauns

Once upon a time, on St. Patrick's day, a small band of Leprechauns
decided to join the humans of LegendMUD in their celebration. Their
leader, a pot-bellied little fellow, took them into the town of Tara to
celebrate. Tika, the barmaid, could barely keep up with them! They were
drinking like fish, dancing, and carrying on. The next day, the
pot-bellied fellow woke up verrrrry hung over. He reached over to his
desk to retrieve his lucky shamrock to work his magic to cure himself,
but to his surprise, it was no longer there!

A meeting was held, and the council of Leprechauns decided that during
the St. Patrick's day celebration, those dirty humans must have stolen
their shamrocks, as the rest of the Leprechauns were missing theirs as
well! This was a big problem, for as you know, without their lucky
shamrocks, leprechauns tend to go a bit...mad.

It was decided by the great pot-bellied Leprechaun that they would wage a
war against the town of Tara, biting, taunting, and poisoning the
residence! They set up a small warcamp based around the Tara well, and
the sticky-fingered one decided that great walls of fog to hide them from
the big seasoned and elite warriors would help.

With camp set up, they went about figuring out how to retrieve their
Shamrocks. They tried ordering, they tried taunting, they even tried
poisoning the well, but all to no avail. Then, the wee Leprechaun and the
elegant little Leprechaun decided it might be smart to offer some of
their pots of gold in exchange for the Shamrocks.

Many brave warriors, and even a giant lizard went to work, trying to find
these Shamrocks that the Leprechauns thought had been stolen (but were
really just misplaced, hehe, silly Leprechauns). Godzilla, a huge monster
of a lizard, recovered the first one, returning it to a Leprechaun with
an angelic smile, in exchange for a HUGE pot of gold. Many other brave
warriors were still out searching, and Hatred returned with two of the
missing Shamrocks! One for the fuzzy-headed Leprechaun, and another for
sticky fingers! Only three more to go!

Briarwen, the busty little barmaid showed up with another, returning it
to the wee Leprechaun, breaking her madness. Of course, this greedy
little barmaid wouldn't return it until she finally received the pot of
gold first. The next was Darwin, a studious young lad, who seemed more
intent on studying these Leprechauns than returning their Shamrocks, but
he gave it up to the elegant little Leprechaun. Now only one left, that
mean ole leader the pot-bellied Leprechaun.

Now, a gaunt juggalo (What is a Juggalo, anyway?), named Kritter found
this Shamrock among the Sidhes. The only problem was, on his way out, one
of them named Barney got very angry, and killed him. Things were looking
bad. Luckily for Kritter, and the Leprechauns, the mighty Joach and
Sarevok came to the rescue, slaying the evil sidhe, and retrieving
Knitter's body.

Kritter returned his Shamrock to the pot-bellied leader, in exchange for
more gold, and all the madness was finally put to an end. The pot-bellied
leader purified their well, apologized on behalf of the Leprechaun
community, and returned back to their hidden home. Where this is, still
no one knows, but it was definitely a memorable March, with all the
Leprechaun madness!

                    The Seven Circles of the Inferno

The Seven Circles comprise a group of politicians, warriors, sorcerers,
demons, angels, devils, servants, imps, devil worshipers, demon
worshipers, coffee worshipers, and others who exist to further their
personal power and that of the netherworldly realms. Together we stand,
united we conquer, individually we gloat.

Our chief spheres of interest include: World conquest, domination of
economical and political systems, sorcery, souls, general attempts at
making the world a more horrid place for the common man, and, obviously,
a more pleasant place for ourselves.

Among us we desire any entity descended of the infernal realms, as well
as any man or woman who has conducted enough transactions with our realms
as to be commonly recognized as a servant or emissary of netherworldly
forces.

Formed in 2000, the Seven Circles is one of Legend's oldest surviving
role-playing clans. A loosely tied organisation of individualists and
anarchists with a strong sense of fellowship, the clan's membership
averages 13. To join, you need the urge -- if not experience -- to
role-play consistently, whereas pkill ability is optional.

There are currently 16 RP clans and 8 PK clans. This leaves open slots

Nearly half of the of Grendels were on the PK scene last week and
Panuccis Pizza fielded the next highest number of members. The Infernals
and Grand Coven also had a trio of members seen in the field last week. A
pair of Hermetics and a long Knight of Legend were also seen in the
middle of the action whereas the Syndicate and IRA remained unheard and
unseen and the School of Hard Knocks closed its doors.

In the past week there were 62 pkill-related deaths involving 35
different characters. Of those 35 characters, 18 of them were accept all

                       Peace, Love, and Insanity

This is the story of Sarevok and Romaltha, a strange couple indeed.
Romaltha was a great mage growing up, being born with the gift of magic,
and unmatched in her magical prowess. However, due to her...insanity, she
wasn't accepted at any of the schools of Magi. They told her that her
magic was too out of control, and that she herself was also out of
control. Unable to study under any of the good or neutral schools of
magic, she stumbled across Sarevok. Sarevok realized the potential of
this young mage, and took her under his wing, molding her into the even
more insane, more evil her that she is today. Banding with other
'misunderstood' mages, they formed the clan that is known today as the
Dark Necromancers Society.

Now, Sarevok wasn't always evil. He was once a great Legend of Alasea,
following the path of Joach, the good path. After many trials and
tribulations, Sarevok realized that good was getting him nowhere, and
fast. Sarevok then stumbled upon a sword. The Sword of Chaos. Upon
wielding this sword Sarevok's true colors came out. Chaotic and Evil.

Roaming the land, raising the dead, and taking what riches he could for
himself, he stumbled upon this beautiful young woman named Romaltha.
Realising the potential that this young woman had, Sarevok took it upon
himself to take her under his wing. He schooled her in the arts of evil
magic, and taught her how to summon evil Demons from the void. After
finding other Mages with similar interests, the two formed the Dark
Necromancers Society.

After spending several months together, Sarevok and Romaltha's evil binds
drew them together, and they fell in love (awww). Yes, even evil people
fall in love. Anyways, with the blessings of their friends and clanmates,
and the wonderful LadyAce, they had decided to be joined in the Unholy
tradition of matrimony. Lets hope they find a happy, evil life together.

                   A Staid Vagabond Estrayed, Part One

I never knew my mother, but that never doused my curiosity any. Father
would tell me stories about how wonderful a woman she was, how beautiful
and loving a mother she should have been. 'She was the most beautiful
Viking--' Dad abruptly stopped. Being a little boy, I only looked at him
curiously. 'She was the most beautiful woman...' and so the story
continued. It was much later that the identity of my mother would come to
the fore.

In my home, scholarship was the first and last subject discussed on any
given day. Father lectured at the Latin School back home in Kleinstadt,
grooming the most promising students it had to offer. To him, the
classroom was omnipresent. Even at home, he would lecture at length about
the Papacy, Homer, Britain, or whatever else he wished to speak about. At
a young age he taught me the language of Rome, and brought home weathered
tombs from lands far off. For hours I would sit by the Quelle and read
while my peers played in the streets.

My passion for reading and learning continued on into my early manhood,
even after leaving the Latin School. After I turned 14, books looked
juxtapose in my large hands. Schildknappes (and even Ritters!) began
taking notice of my size, hinting to my parents that God had given me a
body fit for armor. Father fiercely objected, arguing that the Almighty
had bestowed upon me a fine intellect. After many weeks of debate, Father
finally allowed them to 'evaluate' me.

I was assigned to work at the Holtzarbeiter early in the mornings before
opening, where I would help haul the previous night's harvest of lumber
into the stores. Although it was difficult, I thoroughly enjoyed the
work. During the afternoons, I was taught the basics of swordsmanship by
one of Roland's Schildknappes. By the next spring, I was 15, and a
Schildknappe to Ritter Yves.

I poured everything into my duties. Ritter Yves was a very proud man
(rightly so) who seemed to relish in assigning me menial tasks, but I
always followed through. Whether it was shoveling his steed's stall in
the Stallungen or shining his armor, I saw to it's proper end. By the
winter season of my 15th year, I appeared to be favored by my Ritter, and
I looked forward to tasks less tedious and more worthy of a Ritter's
apprentice the next spring.

One snowy Freitag afternoon, I was walking down Haupstrauss on my way to
the Stadttor on an errand. Ritter Yves had ordered me to deliver a note
to the guards stationed there. Rumors had been circulating that Viking
Spion were in the area, so I took this assignment seriously. With great
haste I delivered the note to Dietrich, who was heading the watch. While
he read it, he began looking at me in a curiously. I had never been fond
of Dietrich, and having him look at me in that matter made me dislike him
all the more.

'You, huh?' Dietrich snorted.

'Sir?' I prompted.

'I never would have thought it,' he said, chuckling after a brief pause
and shaking his head. Whatever he had read, it had stunned him for sure.

I searched for meaning in his manner, but could find none.

Dietrich put his hand to the hilt of his Saebel. 'Ein Spion! Ein Spion!'
he cried, and there was a bustle of activity as several guards came
running.

To my horror he was glaring at me! 'What is it, Dietrich?' I stuttered,
not daring to draw my Degen against him, 'Why do you draw your Saebel
against me?'

He only spat in the ankle-deep snow. 'Bloody Viking,' he sneered, his
eyes blazing, 'How dare you live here among us!'

              Searching Never Finding by a Hopeless Romantic

           In front of his powers, flowers
           showers and long spent hours
           always searching for reprieve or repent
           sometimes his mind gets bent
           around an idea or plan
           but it's never good enough
           after all, he is but a simple man
           For her love, he would cross pits of fire
           protect her from danger
           cross a high wire
           but sometimes he feels flat
           just like a bike tire
           sometimes he feels like
           his life is a mire
           of muck and mud
           water and blood
           toil and trouble
           makes his life bubble
           All through his travels
           he has stayed at the Stag
           met a witch in Ireland
           who cursed him, the hag
           he's seen Ithaca, Orkney
           and all spots between
           helped a lonely minstrel marry his love
           what a great deed
           ventured to Romania, became an elite guard
           sailed the south seas, my that was hard
           went to Bengal, London and France
           stayed there for awhile
           to enjoy wine and dance
           but for all of his travels all over the world
           he would trade it all in
           for the right girl
           someone who's smart and gentle and kind
           oh, and don't forget
           with a little behind

                         On the Road with Bass

If action and adventure are your ideal getaway, look no further than
Roman Britain. There is much to see and do here and the fear of invasion
is always a quick pick me up.

The smoke filled Falcon Inn is a definite must see. Although Calpurnius
always has ale on tap and meat on the fire, he is not the most
entertaining host in the world. There did seem to be a steady parade of
travelers and locals alike to talk to while sitting in the inn's main
room. Several times during my stay someone would get up and make a speech
for anyone who would listen, often times resulting in the speaker being
beaten bloody. There were also a couple tax men who came in for a drink
and were carried out in bags. Maybe I drank to much that night, huh?

Like bizarre sporting events? Look no further than the Ball Field where
they play a funny-looking game of catch or dodge ball. I couldn't decide.

If your into architecture and the arts there are numerous places to
satisfy your eye. Take a short walk and a long look at the Basilica and
the Palaestra to view some masterpieces of design and form. The
Amphitheatre is a great place to enjoy both the craftsmanship and
artistry of this land of many enemies. It also has excellent acoustics
and my version of Wherever I May Rome....errrr...Roam sounded awesome.

The nearby fishing village of Eburacum should provide you with a pleasant
distraction if you get tired of the splendor you find in the rest of RB.
Though not my cup of rum, they do offer a certain ruralness that you
cannot find in other places. The aptly named Tavern did have a decent
brew and the tavern wench was flirting me up like a seasoned groupie.

In short, I like this place almost as much as I like four/four time with
trio of back-up singers. I recommend you give it a look or maybe a
