Sorry about the delay between issues. First I was distracted by a bachelorette
party, then job hunting, and then an overall lack of articles. However, here's
your LT now, and I hope you enjoy it! It's full of updates, PK stats, player
contributions, and other various fun things.

Also, don't forget to check out the LegendMUD forum for various discussions!

                               THE PKILL FRONT

PK Stats by Mertjai:
Bacon

Ok, so, after killing a couple pages in my notebook and running out of ink in
my favorite ink pen, I have the PK results for the past 5 weeks worth of
battles.

Psylin and Adamantium stick out the most. Psylin ranked second with 29 wins
and 28 losses, while Adamantium was the most active PKer with 49 wins and 14
losses. Guys, you're both ridiculous. I love you and hate you at the same
time. Not only do you leave me ink pen-less, but you show that PK certainly
isn't dead.

Other PKers who were very active were Zoroaster, with 21 losses and 4 wins;
Rao, with 14 losses and 6 wins; and Caja, with 19 losses and 7 wins.

Dirge gets an honorable mention for having 8 wins and 0 losses.

Thanks to all of you who were fighting out there. More than 30 of you show
that there still is life out there beyond XPing and money farming, and that's
more than anyone can ask. Keep it up, guys and gals. You're doing a fantastic
job. ;D

                                SHUGAH'S TIPS

Things I didn't know about LegendMud and was afraid to ask

I didn't know you could customize colors of everything in the mud! WOW - talk
about rockin' my world! Just type Color list to see all the possibilities,
then use Color Guide to customize and beautify your mudding world!

If you have other tips you'd like to share with the rest of us, email your
tips to the LT at [email protected]. Maybe we can have a "TIPS JAR" that
everyone can contribute some little tidbit to enhance every one's mudding
experience. Remember: every little tip helps!

There's also the "FORUM" at http://forums.legendmud.org/ where I've found some
very useful tips in the forum topic: The New Player Hideaway. If you have
trouble getting into the forum online, you can also read the newest post
in-game by typing help_forum latest.

I'd love to hear other tips from you!

                       An Important Message from Caja

Pssst......May I please have a moment of your time? I want to encourage you to
give Player Killing (aka PKing) a try. If anyone had told me when I started
mudding that I would like chasing players and being chased around the mud by
other players (and not mobs), I'd have told them they were crazy! Granted, I
get a little angry at times, I say stuff I regret later, but I enjoy the
banter between other PKers, and after a good fight it's an adrenalin jolt for
sure. I lose way more times than I win, but hey...winning isn't everything,
right? Well... to some, it's the *only* thing. hehehe.

If you don't want to make the commitment by going full fledged to become PKE
(Player Killing Enabled) then give it a try by dueling someone. Have a look
at the help files and get familiar with the rules. You should be familiar
with PK rules even if you aren't PKE, because you can interfere with PK and
interference with PK carries some severe penalties. I want you to be aware of
what the rules are. So, take my advice, find a friend, ask them to duel with
you, see how you like fighting another player for a change!

A Trial of Generosity

One morning in early August, Serpentarius took a break from his search and
flew to a plateau high above the savannah to await a visit from an old friend.
He sat on the edge of the plateau and observed the impressive panorama as the
sun rose into the sky. There were worse places to wait, after all.

The sky was then torn asunder as a portal to the Zodiac Realm opened up and a
majestic golden lion, as large as the mountains themselves stepped forth, the
portal disappearing behind him. The earth shook as he laid down before the
plateau, gazing up at the Serpent King.

'I was wondering when you'd show up,' Serpentarius muttered.

Leo yawned. 'Sorry, boss.'

Serpentarius grinned. 'Busy night, was it?' he inquired.

'Heh.. you could say that. I've been trying to find Virgo for you,' sighed
Leo, looking down at his paws. 'Must've looked over the Realm by now, but she
ain't there. So she must be in this world somewhere. Unless she's... you know.'

Serpentarius nodded. 'I will find her, have no doubt on that. And I thank you
for aiding me in my search.'

'Hey.. it's the least I can do,' said Leo, scuffling at the ground with his
paws. 'I want the old days back. It's just no fun without you around.'

Serpentarius cast his mind back to his days spent with the other Zodiac before
the chaos started. 'We were.. certainly a handful at times, no?' he said with
a grin.

'I'd say,' said Leo. 'Remember that time we turned Cancer's shell pink?'

Serpentarius actually managed a laugh. 'He went missing for days!'

Leo nodded. 'You, me and Taurus. They said that whenever the three of us were
together, bad things would happen. I think they were right.'

'Remember that last tourney we had?' asked the Serpent King.

'Yeah.. I still can't believe you let Aries beat you,' responded Leo.

'Well, that victory meant much more to him than it did to me. And by then I
was.. somewhat distracted,' Serpentarius explained.

'By Virgo, huh?' said Leo. 'Yeah, you couldn't take your snake eyes off her.
I'd say you were distracted alright.'

The day flew by as the friends revisited old memories, and only when the sun
began to set did they awaken from their reminiscence.

Serpentarius suffered a stab of guilt as the present caught up with him. 'As
much as it pains me.. I'm afraid I require your power, my friend,' he said
sadly.

'Oh.. don't worry about that. I want to give it to you anyway,' said Leo. 'But
as much as I'd like to, I can't just hand it over. You have to prove yourself
worthy.'

'And how can I prove such a thing?' asked Serpentarius.

'Good question,' pondered Leo. 'I suppose we could beat each other into a
paste, but what would that prove?'

Serpentarius gazed at the setting sun as he thought for a moment. How else
does one prove himself to the deity of generosity and creativity?

'I have an idea,' said the Serpent King as he stood up. 'Though this may take
some time.'

He closed his eyes and focused his power, and slowly the entire plateau turned
to ice. He drew his scythe and spread his wings and started carving, working
through the night to turn the giant block of ice into the vision he had.

As the hours passed by, Leo watched in awe as the ice was given a face, and a
mane, and then a body. Serpentarius chopped and sliced away at the ice as if
he were possessed; not since the old days had he been given the chance to
wield his power on this scale, and he was certainly enjoying it. Leo, too, was
seemingly hypnotized by the attention to detail shown by his friend, and by
the time it was finished, he was staring eye to eye at a perfect likeness of
himself carved from the ice.

'Oho! Splendid!' Leo commented as Serpentarius flew to the ground. 'With hands
like yours, it's no wonder Virgo was so smitten!'

Serpentarius looked up at his work with a critical eye. 'Would this be
satisfactory?' he asked, exhausted.

'Absolutely!' Leo exclaimed, unable to take his eyes off the statue. 'I never
realized how good I look!'

'Well, I may have exaggerated certain features,' said Serpentarius.

'Hah.. I expected you to say that. Seems you're still incapable of
disappointment,' replied Leo.

Serpentarius turned and looked up at his friend, trying to keep a straight
face. 'Really? You think so?' he asked innocently.

'Trust me, I'd have settled for a lot less,' responded Leo. 'You have passed
the trial of Generosity and I will give you my power. I trust you'll take good
care of it.'

Serpentarius nodded. 'I'll do my best,' he said, glowing gold as he began to
absorb Leo's aura.

'Though I should warn you... the others are up to something. They wouldn't
tell me the details, but.. watch your back,' said Leo gravely as he slowly
faded away.

'Don't you worry,' Serpentarius replied. 'With this power, nothing can stop
me!'

'May it serve you well,' whispered Leo as he faded into nothingness.

'Though no power could ever make amends for what we did to you..'
