on because you thought your house was safe, you may want to verify the amount
of rent you have in the bank.

                   DESCRIPTION CHANGE: Razael Valentine

'Valentines!' boomed a voice, eerily familiar and yet glaringly foreign.

Caden wasn't here. Lethe couldn't get in, and he knew that. Nadia and Jaina
eyed one another warily, the marks of low sleep and high stress evident on
both of their faces. So what was he doing here?

'Come now! Watch as your hero falls!' came Lethe's infernal voice again,
jarring them from their pondering.

Caden.

The two of them bolted for the gate, flinging it aside and stepping out onto
the street in Lima. In hindsight, they would realize how wildly foolish that
had been, but that was the furthest thing from their minds at that moment.
They were more worried about Caden. If they lost him...

And there he was. Jaina pressed through the doorway first, catching sight of
Caden lying in the street, with Lethe's hulking iron form between them. He
was hurt, and looked dazed and confused. She had never seen him like that.

Jaina and Nadia came to a halt outside of the house, fear rising in them.
This was it.

Lethe reached up to strike, his fist twisting and shaping into a great iron
spike. The flames limning his form intensified, and a savage grin was etched
on his face as he prepared to kill his only son.

Then, everything went pear-shaped.

Suddenly, Lethe's grin was gone, and he was struggling. He was groaning and
straining, his spiked-fist frozen in midair as if it had gotten caught in
solid wood. But no matter how hard he tried, he could not finish his killing
stroke. And to make things stranger, the area had gone suddenly quiet, save
for the sound of... footsteps?

Jaina and Nadia were likewise frozen. Their fear was now mixed with
confusion. What was going on?

The footsteps echoed in their ears, far away at first, but drew closer. Lethe
looked around, but saw nobody coming as the footsteps drew ever-louder.

Light flashed, and suddenly Lethe was inexplicably flying backward, his huge
iron bulk tossed aside like a toy. In front of Caden's broken form stood a
thin, pale figure. A shadow fell behind him, shrouding Caden; a shadow of
the shape of great birdlike wings. His eyes were a pure, radiant blue, and
he exuded calm and confidence.

Razael had returned.

Razael will no longer appear as:
a pale gentleman with deep, crimson eyes
Deep red eyes stare at you from under the ebony locks of this pale man.

Razael will now appear as:
Saint Razael the Archangel, demonbane
Wreathed in holy light, this pale figure assesses you with radiant azure eyes.

Jailbreak

"Stupid lock," Naeva hissed as she fiddled with the jail cell's door. "They
must have made it wrong. I should have it open by now..." Stifling a soft
scream, Naeva pocketed her picks and stormed away from the door, across the
cell to a barred window. She watched dolefully as lightning flashed,
illuminating the dark alleyway. "Stupid guards."

"Oi, what was tha', lass?" a gruff voice asked. The redhead rolled her eyes.
This was the fourth time in the last two hours that the guard had tried
talking to her. First she had replied to any question in German, then in
Italian. During his third visit, the man merely spoke to Naeva's back, the
woman not acknowledging him at all. "Hey, bint, I know ya heard me."

"Je ne suis pas un chien," Naeva hissed, staring out the window.

The guard started to unlock the cell. "Wot did you just say to me?"

The pretend princess closed her eyes. "J'ai dit que ta femme est un cochon."

A loud groan sounded from the door as the guard slid it open, entered, then
shut it behind him. "I heard ya talkin' to tha door, ya little bint. I know ya
speak tha Queen's English."

"Je parle americain, pas votre poubelle britannique."

Suddenly the guard had a hold of Naeva's auburn locks. He roughly pulled her
from the window, practically throwing her onto the cell's cot. "Talk sos I can
understand you!"

"Votre chat sent de framboises," she replied nonchalant, watching the man
closely. He had a limp, right side. The scruff on his face indicated that he
didn't care, was a drunk, or felt too tired to groom. Blue eyes darted over
the rest of his frame, then over to the area beyond her cell. It was a mess
and the smell of ale hung heavily in the air. "Et vous mourir ce soir."

The man raised his right hand, ready to backhand her. "Talk normal like! Wot'd
you say!"

"I said..." Naeva said slowly, shifting on the cot so she could easily slip
past the man. "That you're going to die tonight."

He snarled with rage. "A little sprite like you ain't gonna do anythin' to
me!" he shouted, diving at the woman. Ready for this, Naeva launched herself
off the cot. As the guard struggled to turn and stand, Naeva was already on
him, a knee slamming into his kidney as she fumbled around for the keys.

"Where are they?" she yelled, fingers pressed roughly into a soft spot on his
neck, her knee still pushing into his side. "Give me the keys, you sack of
garbage!"

"Ain't gonna give you nothin'," he coughed before shoving Naeva off of him.
She landed roughly on the floor, her right ankle buckling oddly under her.

With a cry she struggled to right herself. "Damn it," she hissed. "Ari, you
are late and I will murder you." Putting her weight on her left leg, Naeva
grabbed the pillow from the cot and held it as a shield between her and the
guard.

"'oo you gonna murder?" the guard said lightly, taunting Naeva. "Ain't gonna
be me. I got tha keys and I got me knife!"

"I believe she was talking to me." The guard turned toward the new voice and
found himself face to face with a tall man pointing a crossbow at him. "Come
now, open the door," Ari said smoothly. "You've already upset my Belle,
there's no reason to keep us waiting. You've no idea how much sex it's going
to take before she ceases her murder attempts."

The guard didn't move, causing Ari to sigh and let loose an arrow, it piercing
the guard's boot-clad foot. The man cried out in pain, swearing angrily at the
gypsy.

"He pulled my hair!" Naeva called from the background.

"I'm sure you had it coming, Belle," Ari replied, watching as the guard
hobbled towards the cell door, finally unlocking and opening it. Nodding at
the guard, Ari motioned for him to move further into the cell. He did just
that, watching as his redhaired, now ex-captive hobbled out, still clutching
the pillow.

Lowering the crossbow and closing the door, Ari said, "Now, slide the keys
over here." The guard obeyed, not wanting another arrow sticking out of his
body. The hunter picked up the keys, locked the cell, then tucked them into
his jacket. "Come on, Belle," he said, holstering the crossbow and scooping
Naeva up. "What did you do, anyway?"

"Oh, nothing," she said lightly as the pair left the jailhouse. "I just may
have called a guard's mother a harlot and said that I slept with her last
night."

"And you wonder why you end up in these situations."

A Ruffled Peacock

"There's absolutely nothing I can do, Nadia," Setheus said for the seventh
time. The fallen angel leaned forward in his seat, his elbows resting on his
knees. "Technically I'm of Hell - You're welcome, by the way - so I know
absolutely nothing of the going-ons up there. I cannot find out if your
husband's body is there." He watched Nadia pace angrily, her high heels
clicking against the floor as Rowane followed her closely, trying to get her
to sit.

"You're lying," she snipped at Seth. "You're just being lazy." The man stared
at her in disbelief as Rowane gave up his persuit of the witch and stood near
the couch Seth had settled on.

"Did you just... no, why am I asking," he seethed, getting to his feet, his
right wing twitching. "Nothing ever changes, does it Nadia? Always the
selfish, needy little --"

He wouldn't get to finish his statement, thanks to Rowane's fist shutting him
up. "Girl just lost her husband," Row said gruffly. "So watch yer trap ya
ruffled peacock." Sneering, Setheus rubbed at his jaw, wiping a bit of blood
away.

"Alright," the angel said, exhaling heavily. "I'm done with this. You," he
said, pointing at Nadia. "I'm done with you and yours. Stay away from me, stay
away from Alessa. I've tried to make my amends, but obviously it'll never be
enough."

Nadia stared at Setheus, having stopped her pacing once Rowane had struck
Seth. "You can't take the girl's only mother-figu--"

"Sansa's alive," Setheus replied shortly. "Alessa doesn't need you and neither
do I."

The witch took a few steps forward, her brow furrowed. "Seth, wait. I didn't
mean..."

"Yes," he replied, walking towards the door, wings still twitching. "You meant
every word, and that's why every gift you've been given was wasted." Seth
stopped and looked back at Rowane. "Good luck with this, old man. She's lost
children, she's lost husbands. Pray to God that you're not the next to die."

With that he left, slamming the door behind him, leaving Nadia to stare at Row
in complete disbelief.
