Stability has been a bit better this week, although granted it hasn't been
perfect. We've currently been up over 48 hours. But unfortunately, we know
there's at least one crasher still in there. There is a fix for that in
this week's code update which was ready to go about a half hour after the
last crash on Friday morning, but we've been kinda curious to see how long
it would stay up, but we rebooted around 11 am system time today to put in
the new changes that have been posted on the welcome board since the 19th.

With this increase in stability, we've seen some more PKILL action again
and know that a lot of people are excited about and busily planning
strategies for the PK tourney on the 4th of May. Also of people have been
worried that the Tourney is only for clan members. While the intention was
to promote clan teamwork, anyone is welcome to form a team and join the
fun. We apologize if that wasn't clear in last week's issue. So please
send in your team info to Natalia by this Friday at midnight.

We're still waiting to here more exact information on LadyAce's new
connection and when that'll be up and running (typical installation horror
story it seems) but when we know when the downtime to move the machine
back to Chicago will be, we'll let you all know as well.

This wonderful spring weather is bringing with it lots of urges for Spring
Cleaning and fixing things up around my house, some of it virtual, some of
it real, but just knowing that the fairies and elves are coming around on
May Day, followed by a PK Tourney and then a Cinco de Mayo Casino Night.
What a busy next couple of week's we're going to have! And with May just
around the corner, that means that June is even closer now and the Summer
Odyssey isn't far off either!

Belated Congratulations are in order for The Seven Circles and the IRA
clans. These two clans celebrated their second year of their founding last
week. Apologies to their GMs and members for not noting it in last issue.

The Seven Circles are an RP clan that was founded on April 15, 2000. Seven
circles of Hell. Seven deadly sins. Seven thousand ways to commit them,
and they're working on a new edition. This is where demons and devils,
servants and worshipers gather to further the powers of Hell - and
themselves. Hell may be gone, but the Seven Circles remain forever
infernal. Visit http://prodigalstranger.nee.dk/legend.php for more info.

The IRA, originally founded as an RP clan on April 16, 2000, joined the
ranks of PK clans a year later on April 18, 2001. The Irish Republican
Army is a known terrorist organization here on Legend plotting to blow up
a store or pub near you!!! As the GM was unavailable for comment, we have
little more information on the clan itself, other than they seem to be
having some internal conflicts over restocking of their clan hall.

Be sure to congratulate both clans on their longevity!

               =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The recently formed Virtucon Clan was disbanded for low membership.

               =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The Dark lords elite clan formed on April 15, 2002. The Dark Lord's Elite
is an advanced strike team -- a special ops force -- that is allied with
the Soldiers and DE clans. There are no restrictions on align, level or
gender to join.

               =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

On a related note, this one was found on the office door, a dagger nailing
it in place:

I write this: Those who have deserted the Soldiers of the
Dark Lord will have their blood shed. I do not take well to
deserters, and neither does the Dark Lord, no matter to
start an inferior splinter faction clan such as the 'Dark
Lord's Elite' or whatever they call themselves.

I will not rest until their blood stains the ground
vermillion and their screams are heard from crucifixes
facing the sun with their eyelids removed from their faces.

     General Masha Corlan

               =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

With the increased stability, we've seen a bit more action on the PK front
this week -- the Mercenaries and the Grendels have had the most members
seeing action. The members of the Hermetic Order have also been dusting
off their spellbooks and getting into the middle of things. The Enforcers
made more of a show of their might than their military counterparts.
Likewise, the IRA and the Syndicate had some members see some action. The
Coven and Knights were rather quiet this week.

There are currently 18 RP clans and 8 PK clans. This leaves open slots for
six (6) more clans to form. For more information, read HELP CLAN and see

postman fashion, was unable to assist me in finding the return address.

Let the record show my wife has been dead for 10 years.

The 15th of December, 1901.

As per usual, I am without sleep. The shadows have been growing longer,
activity in the Fringe seems to be growing stronger for some reason. The
rain outside is bloody opressive. These London nights are beginning to
take their toll upon me. My cigarette is interrupted by a knock on my
office door. Let the record show that no one is at home save myself, to
my knowledge. There is no one there when I answer.

The 16th of December, 1901.

I manage to find the sweet solace of sleep, only to have it violently
interrupted by strange dreams of an apparition baring striking
resemblance to my wife. She carries the corpse of an infant. I wake and
decide coffee is better than sleep.

The 16th of December, 1901 (midday).

I have gone to retrieve payment from August Edmond (see Case File
0066A1) when I see a woman pushing a stoller down a desolate stretch of
alley. I would normally think nothing of such a thing, but my
Ion-Stability Reader began to ring with such ferver that I nearly
thought the moon would be blood red this eve. I began down the alley,
and found myself surrounded by disembodied whispers. From everywhere and
no where. The woman turned to look at me...and...it seemed to be Jane,
my late wife. I stood my ground for a moment, and she vanished...leaving
the stroller. When I approached the stroller to investigate, it began to
propel itself at high speed down the alley, crashing into a wall before
shattering into a million specks of light.

Payment can wait in regard to Case 0066A1...I need a glass of wine.

(Case File 0045B2 still open, Salvador Vitelli)

                            Writer's Block

Moira Connaught sighed and wadded up another piece of paper. It landed in
a pile in the corner with the others. It was her first official commission
as resident bard at Carion Trag. And neither the words or music would
flow. Maybe she was only a fake. Worse yet, maybe other people would find
that out. Or already knew.

It had been an unsettling year. So many strange things had happened.
Knights doing sensible things. The Guppy being sighted in a fish bowl. And
then there were those people that said they were sidhe, or part drow. That
was particularly unsettling. Sidhe and drow were part of the old stories
that the grandmothers in her home village had told during the long winter
nights in front of the fire. Moira's uncles had raised her to be a
sensible girl.

Several more wadded balls of paper landed in the corner before she fell
asleep at her desk. And the dream came again, as it had for the last
several weeks, often on the nights before she was to perform. Nerves,
perhaps. She woke up screaming, and desperately wringing her hands of the
dream blood that never wiped off. She listened for footsteps in the
darkness. Had she awakened the rest of the Castle?

Almost silently, she chanted the mysterious words that created a floating
lamp. Was it magic? An illusion? Her grandmother had never explained. By
its light, she reached for a small bottle and shook out a small blue pill.
Moira hated the pills. They made her groggy the next day, and had forced
her to severely curtail her sangria intake. Worse yet, Dr. Aemilia
Weatherbee, her friend and personal physician, had explained that they
could cause serious side effects if taken too long.

But anything was better than the dream coming back. She swallowed the pill
and fell into a dreamless sleep.

The Life of Judah, Part 3

Judah traveled through the lands, helping those he could, and telling more
about the love of Aslan. He met a young woman named Celes. she was an
innocent young girl, or so Judah thought. They traveled through the lands,
and Judah came to think of her much like another daughter. He told her
about the Knights of the Temple, about his history with Lord Marcel
Alexander, of his friends and family. She told him little about herself,
but Judah assumed she just needed more time to learn to trust him. It all
came together one night when, as Judah sat in an Inn, Celes drew her
dagger and plunged it into his back. Judah did not know what to do, he was
injured grievously, but he had to find out who did it. He asked which way
the assailant went and went after 'it'... He caught up with Celes, and she
came up to him and whispered, 'This is for my grandfather, the priest you
killed in the mountains of Peru, and Tash sends his regards.' She stabbed
him again, and again, and then left him, ironically, for the vultures to
pick clean. As Judah lay there, surely dying, he had a vision of an angel
standing over him, the angel used a special balm to heal his wounds. When
he awoke he thought about what Celes had said. He was puzzled, he had never
killed a priest... wait, the witchdoctor... many called him a priest of
the dark spirits, but he had not killed the witchdoctor, it was his father
that did that deed. Judah suddenly felt he needed to go to the top of the
mountain and sit....

The dark of the night made it difficult to see the man as he stood on top
of the mountain. Though it would most likely be the first frost, Judah was
comfortable in his lined leather duster. It will be a good night, he
thought as he stood before the altar he had erected to his Lord. He was
not sure why he was called to this mountain, nor why he felt so compelled
to build the altar, but none of that mattered at the moment as he felt the
irresistable urge to kneel and show reverence to his Lord through praise
and adoration.

'Lord you have given me all I need. Your hand has continually been upon
me. You created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. Nothing
is more powerful than you. You can create, or destroy, with a word, your
power is undefinable. You give your children your love and presence each
day, should they only look to see it. By your will we came into being, and
by your will we live to glorify your name. You give to us all we have, all
we will have, and all we could ever hope to receive, and ask for only love
and obedience in return. I gladly place myself as your servant, a
bondslave to the one who allows me to worship the one true Lord. Judah
paused and allowed himself to take in the beauty of the mountain air, and
the nocturnal sounds that seemed to be magnified in this place. 'Lord, I
lift up the souls of my mother and father, I pray that they sit in your
bosom and are nurtured by your presence and love, and also for that of my
brother, that his conversion as he lay dying was a true and genuine heart
change, so that I might see him again someday.' Using the back of his hand
he wiped a tear from his cheek. His heart ached for the pieces that had
been taken from him when his mother was killed, his fasther took his own
life, and his brother and wife had been also taken from him. He had, at
first, tried to sequestor himself away, thinking that there is no pain in
a hermitage, but this proved false, and only heightened his depression. It
took some harsh, but loving words from a good friend, and the
understanding ear of a young stranger, who would be a friend, to make him
see that he needed not to hide away, but to face the world and allow the
Lord to fill the voids he had in his heart. It had been a hard road, but
he was here now, by what he believed to be the prompting of his Lord, to
hear His voice and to have some of His will revealed.

The Grey Infidel - part 1 of 3

Imam Abu Ja'far started as he heard the panicked cry. 'The Grey Infidel!
Allah preserve us!' Muttering a quick prayer he quickly stood up and drew
his curved sword. Staring west at the Palestine border near Mount Lebanon,
he saw the armies part without resistance like butter before a hot knife,
allowing a lone figure to stride past their lines straight towards him. He
gripped his curved sword tightly. The Grey Infidel's reputation in the
land was fearsome, like a nightmare which suddenly descended upon them
with a fury no Crusader could match.

No one knew where the Grey Infidel came from. When younger, he had ravaged
the armies of Salah ad-Din mercilessly, chasing Egyptian conscripts across
the camp and murdering them when they sought sanctuary in the tents.
Recently, however, he had become more bold. He had attacked the officers
of the army, and the officers, most notably Abu Ja'far himself, first in
line against any attack from the Palestinian border, had found no answer
to his horrifying blade. Abu Ja'far remembered quite vividly the last time
the Grey Infidel had sent him to the void, and the pain as his body was
burned by the fire which leapt from his blade. He ran his hand across his
thick, curling beard, muttered a second prayer for comfort and had just
enough time to open his eyes and assume a defensive posture as the Grey
Infidel ran past the quivering Iraqi Muslims and drove his blade
downwards.

Abu Ja-far parried with his curved sword, but the weight drove him to his
knees. Barrel-like and thickly built, Abu Ja'far was Infidel of the
largest and most feared opponents in Salah ad-Din's camp, yet here was
this infidel who hit him with such force that it hurt to even hold his
blade. A quick parry to his left and he saw that the Grey Infidel had left
his left flank exposed. However, before Abu Ja'far could take advantage of
the opening the Grey Infidel had reversed his blow, almost knocking Abu
Ja'far's blade from his hands. As cramp set into his hands, Abu Ja'far
charged at the Grey Infidel, dropping his shoulder and using his
considerable bulk to ram the chest of his opponent. The Grey Infidel
didn't budge, and the next thing Abu Ja'far knew was the painful crack of
a grey elbow on his immat as he sprawled onto the floor, completely
disoriented.

The next few seconds were a blur, and Abu Ja'far vaguely remembered
swinging his curved sword in the general direction of the Grey Infidel,
and the pain which wracked his body as the blade and the flames ripped him
to shreds. In moments it was over, and Abu Ja'far could only look up as
the Grey Infidel raised his blade high in the air for the coup de grace.
He spat defiantly at the blur figure in front of him, cradled his most
treasured possession, the holy book, in his arms, and turned over to
protect the book from the blow. As the blade rammed home, tears fell from
the eyes of the faithful Imam as he knew the book would now fall into the
hands of infidels, and would likely end up as a cheap curio on the
storeshelves of some lowly shopkeeper in foreign lands. He could only pray
that one of his brothers-in-arms would be able to put an end to this
nightmare soon. Little did he know that his people faced a Fomor,
legendary foes of the sidhe of Eire, and that they never had a chance in a
fair fight

Further south, the Farrukshah of Balbek, Majd ad-Din ibn 'Izz ad-Din,
looked up as he heard the death cry of the prayer-leader of Damascus,
followed by the triumphant warcry of the Fomor. Shaking his head, he swore
to avenge the death of his friend, and readied himself for the challenge
as the Fomor started south towards the main camp.
