Apologies for not getting an issue out for a while again. It's been a crazy month here and other than the news that's available in game there haven't been many submissions. Just a reminder that on next Saturday (Jan 1st), the monthly purge scripts will be turned back on and begin moving playerfiles from the active directory to the purged directories. It is ALWAYS safer to archive your characters if you are going to be gone for a period of time. While we do our best to keep the purged backups as long as possible, there is no guarantee that a character that has been purged can be retrieved, especially if someone has made a new character with the same name in the meantime. The characters that would have been purged on Dec. 1 are still available on the web at this link. Likewise, the purge scripts will have consequences for clans with members that have not logged on recently as well. The following clans are in danger of falling to or below the minimum number of members with next week's purge: The Church of Epicurean Enlightenment New Player Helpers Union of Protagonists The Dark Necromancers Society Fields of Albion Knights of the Temple IRA Avengers Knights of Legend The Hermetic Order The Grand Coven There are also several clans that will change GMships with the purge unless the current GMs log in before then. We've tried to point out the "gotchas" that might arise from this, but a good many of these fixes should be completely transparent to the players. If you notice something that isn't behaving quite the way it should, please drop a note about it in the bug file. It is most helpful if you fully describe the problem you experience and you can submit as many reports as it takes to describe the problem. Newcomers to mudding are often unaware of mud etiquette and oldbies often forget they were once clueless newbies too. Static has reached 200 million experience! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 'Til Death Do Us Part - A Game for Couples ran by Darktalon and Lenore The "'Til Death Do Us Part" game took place on Sunday, Dec 5th. The game essentially was "The Newly-wed Game" with a LegendMUD twist. Couples were split up and put into two isolation booths, one called "Dark" and the other called "Dead". They were asked questions about the person in either the "Dark" or the "Dead" room, and both would answer at the same time to see if their answers would match, and therefore how well their knew each other and their relationship. Matching answers got a point. The game was split into three rounds of ten questions each. Four couples participated, Team Honeybadger: Snoogle and Major Static, Team Pimps-a-lot: Horror and Mercedes, Team Vulcan Ears: Kastina and Spanish-Flea and Team Buttercup: Kayla and Haplo. Some sample questions/answers were: Your relationship is most like: a) Karin and Erich (meant to be), b) Allan-a-dale and Fennel (star-crossed), c) Scheherezade and Sultan (submissive), or d) old husband and wife in Orkney (ball and chain-like) Snoggle: b; Major Static: b Horror: d; Mercedes: c Kastina: oh my c, hahahaha; Spanish-Flea: submissive! hahaha, c Kayla: a; Haplo: karin and erich, a If Dark was a mob, how tough would they be: a) the tarasque, b) a muscular guard, c) a country squire, or d) field mouse? The updated scores: Team Pimps-a-lot, Horror and Mercedes, came in 4th with 13 points and won his and hers "boobie" prizes, red swimming trunks and one-piece swimsuit. Team Buttercup, Kayla and Haplo, came in 3rd with 14 points and won a bronze trophy of intertwined hearts and his and hers pink prize tokens. Team Vulcan Ears, Kastina and Spanish-Flea, came in 2nd with 21 points and won a silver trophy of intertwined hearts and his and hers half-string coupons. Team Honeybadger, Snoogle and Major Static, came in 1st with 27 points and won a golden trophy of intertwined hearts and his and his non-string coupons, these two men know each other better than any two men I've ever known...give them a round of applause! Of course a game of 'Til Death Do Us Part wouldn't be complete without some dying. PK broke out between several individuals/couples and resulted in Mercedes helping Dalia kick the bucket (and she was just watching the game!) and Mercedes exploring the netherworld a little early thanks to Spanish-Flea. Perhaps one of the most touching moments happened at the end of the game between Spanish-Flea and Kastina. 'And now to show that I love Kastina more than you love any of your partners,' Spanish-Flea said stupidly and then he gave his half-string coupon to Kastina (before she could steal it). Kastina snuggled up to the silver trophy of intertwined hearts (you've heard of strange bedfellows, but REALLY!) as Spanish-Flea grovelled before her and said 'So in the end, we're the bestest couple.' The clan started out as an RP clan, changing over to a PK clan on March 3rd, 2004. More than just this life of Death and Horror. I went to the elders of Hell and told them I need to leave -- I needed to go to earth -- to Destroy and make a name for myself on Earth. I dreamed about the evil and terrible things I could unleash unto the world and basked in my own glory and wonder. I knew what I had to do when I arrived there. I got word from the Dark Prince himself allowing me to go out onto the world and bring chaos to all who seek the rules of the Heaven to be in place. To destroy all who had the will to serve Life and to corrupt all the souls of earth to make Hell a Powerful Underworld. I swore to to all that I could in the name of Hell on earth, so I set out to begin. I went the front gates of Hell to begin my rampage. The First Thing I came upon was a small town with innocent people. I chuckled as i saw how weak they all were. I stood on the hilltop above the town and drew my Great bow I had forged from the fires of hell and engraved with the symbols of true darkness and loaded it with a arrow burning with hell fire. I began to shoot the villagers down one by one enjoying every moment. I could feel the souls being harvested to enhance the essence of Hell and all its glory. I knew that this was only the first of my Terror on earth. I was going to Bring Hell upon earth with the might of the minotaurs and the powers of hell behind me.
