Here in the U.S., Thursday marks our Thanksgiving celebration. Yes, I know
the Canadians had theirs last month, and the rest of the world probably
doesn't understand the embracing of a holiday that was started by people
with whom so few of the current population can even claim a relationship.
I think it's more the idea behind the holiday -- being thankful for what
you have, appreciating the family and friends who gather around you for
the football, parades, and feasts -- that has made it one that is still
regularly celebrated and fraught with tradition. Too often, we take the
mundane or constant things in our lives for granted and it's good that we
set aside one day a year to think about those things.
Many people who keep journals include something called a gratitude list.
Put simply, it's a quick list of 5 or so things that you are grateful for
that day. What would be on your list today? Would LegendMUD with its sense
of community and the friends you've made here be on it?
If not, perhaps you have more important and more crucial things to be
grateful to have right now. We know we're a luxury -- nothing costs more
than free time to spend having a good time. It's often depressing to
realize that we don't really stop to think to appreciate the place until
we can't access it for some reason. We should all try to recognize and
drop a quick thanks for all the things we like about the place and each
other more often.
Have a great week! Don't eat too much turkey and may your team win! And
thank you for playing and being a part of this awesome place that's more
than just a game!

The PK Front was rather quiet this week which isn't surprising with the
holiday weekend coming up and midterm exams and projects coming due. The
Infernals, Grand Coven and Grendels had about one-third of their forces
active this week. The Knights of Legend also had a couple of members out
and the School of Hard Knocks appears to have been holding practical exams
this week as well. The Secretives, Hermetic Order and IRA members were not
seen in the middle of any action this week.

This past week there were 45 pkill-related deaths involving 34 different
characters. Of those 34 characters, 21 of them were accept all at the
time. So come on, let's get YOUR name up in lights! We can't report on it

Cherished Gifts
A young templar carefully removed her white cloak with a red cross, folded
it with reverence and placed it on the short stool next to the bed. She
couldn't help giving it one final caress before turning and finishing her
preparations for bed. It was the finest thing she had ever owned. Soft and
warm, made of some fine material she couldn't identify. She knew to be so
materialistic was a sin, but at this moment she didn't care, she'd do
penance later, right now she just wanted to enjoy her wonderful new gifts.
Gently, she placed the silver goblet of deep red wine on the table she
used as a nightstand. She stopped and admired the way the moonlight coming
in the window reflected softly on the silver goblet and then slipped into
bed.
She lay there for a long time, just staring at the goblet and cloak,
occasionally reaching out to touch the precious objects. As tired as she
was after the long day, and the nerves of the ceremony she just couldn't
sleep knowing her gifts were there, just within reach. Gifts from people
she both respected and admired. People, she realised, she still respected
and admired after finding out some of them were... were what? ...less than
perfect. She knew she'd do anything they asked of her. Not just because
she had vowed to be obedient, but because, the greatest gift was that they
had accepted her, they had become the family she had never had.
Sighing at her own foolishness, Mary-Therese sat up, reached over and
carefully picked up her new cloak. She gently smoothed the wrinkles out,
and then lay back down. Her cheek resting on the cherished cloak, and her
arms hugging it to her breast, she finally fell asleep.

My spiritual energy is gone. And this room, it prevents me from
meditating it back...

Drinking from the bloods dripping off the walls seem to replenish
both my physical and spiritual healths. I feel alive more than
ever. But then I have a dilemma now... will I thank whomever put
me in this prison? Or rip out their heart? Maybe I will give my
thanks, then feast on them...

A Journey Begins
The note was unusually short, even coming from Camaris. 'I must leave for
my homeland.' was all it read. Judah pondered. Perhaps he should try to
talk to his long time friend and see if something was troubling him.
He finally found the paladin in Germany. It was the first place he had met
Camaris, so many years ago. The somber man was sitting at a back table,
seemingly oblivious to his surroundings. His meager belongings were
already packed and sitting next to his chair.
Camaris finally looked up. He stood and bowed. 'My apologies.' Camaris
said. Judah chuckled. Before he could ask about the note, Camaris
continued. 'I know I have left at odd times before, but this is an
emergency.'
'What has happened?' Judah inquired. 'Is there anything I could help
with?' Camaris sighed. 'My father has finally passed away, and in my
absence, there was some fighting over who should inherit. Now both parties
lie injured, possibly mortally, and I need to return home.'
'How do you know this?' his friend asked with concern. 'I thought messages
were difficult at best to send from your homeland.' Camaris nodded. 'Yes,
but this came for me the other day...' He pointed at the corner behind
him. There stood an immense sword of an unearthly dark hue. 'That is
Thorn, and she was delivered with the message about my father's passing.'
'Is that the sword you described...?' The solemn paladin nodded again,
sighing as he did so. Judah sat in thought for some time, then came to a
decision. 'It would be cruel for you to travel such a distance without a
friend by your side. Would you object if I asked to come with you?' he
asked gently. Camaris looked startled. In a quiet voice, he said, 'It
would be greatly appreciated...my friend.'
A short time later, two travellers set out from the gates of Klein, slowly
walking the long road before them.

MANHUNT CONTINUES...
Law enforcement officials in several eras are broadening their efforts to
put an end to the reign of terror caused by the Unibowman. The recent
rash of attacks on lawyers and judges has escalated to the point where
mere law students are not safe.
'Guess I'll have to get a real job' said one survivor of last weeks Tudor
student massacre. 'Its no longer safe profiting from other people's
misery.'
After back logging the justice system in Klein by removing the entire
legal staff, the unibowman fell quite until last week's attack.
Officials are refusing to comment on the stealthful nature of this
assassin but are willing to say they are doing all that they can.
To once again look into the mind of this mad man, the Legendary Times will
publish another excerpt from the 139 page, hand written manifesto of the
man the police are calling the Unibowman.
From the manifesto of the Unibowman:
A system which imprisons a poor man for stealing bread to feed his
children and lets murder go unpunished because the guilty have
wealth and fame is held suspect.
Two sets of laws cannot and will not be permissible.
Capitol punishment cannot be only for those with no capitol.
Be warned, false justice will not be tolerated.
