and when to use them? Manage to stay IC even when dying or DT'ing? In short,
think you really got it all down where it matters? This is your chance to
make something off your skills.
Not everyone is a role-play expert, and not everyone feel comfortable asking
more experienced role-players for tips and ideas. Now we're asking you to
write up your best tip and send it in for this contest. Describe your tip in
approx. 5-50 lines (please, no more, other people want to write in the LT
too!). Send it to [email protected]. The best three entries (judged by an
informal gathering of caffeine-overdosed immortals) will be rewarded a prize
token.
Tips may include anything - a listing of your favorite role-play triggers -
how to introduce yourself to new people - how to keep game statistics and
data IC when discussing them - how to write up a cool description - how to
use moods and socials for maximum effect - you name it, we print it.

I came to this realm looking for something new, as well as looking for my
misbegotten parents. I found them, naturally, but things were a bit
different. They were divorced and my mother is going to marry this guy named
Xerox.
It's not as though I'm opposed to him marrying her, but I'll never call him
father, Aginor is my only father.
Just a general complaint, why can't I find a pack of cigarrettes when I need
them?

Morcant's Triumph
Greetings Legendites,
Just letting you know that I decided to definately rid my island of these
whinning peasants known as Britons. I'm currently using the services of a
Lindisfarne scribe so he can write down what I wanted to tell you. Indeed,
I've never learned how to write, which is not a flaw when you are constantly
away, battling, killing and rampaging.
Let it be known, that I, Morcant, son of Morccen, War chief of the Saxons,
have permanently killed the annoying brat know as the Briton Boy. I was
getting tired with Eanmund, who was constantly letting him flee back to his
pathetic hut in the woods.
Eanmund's been warned for his lack of performance and the Briton Boy
beheaded. I now wear the severed head around my waist as a trophy.

Shcythiansh wha hed taken o'er Pershia tae a banquet, goot them droonk, and
then shlaughtered them, akkerdin tae Herodotus. Noo, Akkerdin tae the
Anglo-shakshon Cronichle, the Shcythiansh eventually moved tae a wee plashe
cauled Shcotland, where they became knoown ash pichtsh.
In the 8th shentury, Kenneth MacAlpine, a Shcot, deshided tae conquer
the pictsh. He invited the Pictish leadersh tae a banquet, got them droonk,
and shlaughtered them.
Thish wash repeated later, after the shcotsh and pictsh hed intermarried
enoof fer it tae be practichal ageen.

Bloody Pirates
As I walked back into the USL shop, I was wringing the water out of my
clothes when Mertjai popped her head from behind the counter. "What happened
to you Mel?! You're soaking wet!"
"Oh, they said there'd be treasure galore. They said it'd be a foon
adventure. It wus all roobish as I almost got meself killed in the
Carribean. Bloody pirates," I grumbled as I pulled off my Nike Air Max
running shoes and emptied the water.
"Bad day, I suppose, huh?"
I plopped myself in one of the chairs and sat down shivering in the cold.
"Bad day?! Yah, ya could say that."
"Well, what happened anyway?" Mertjai asked as she brought over a towel for
me.
I bundled myself up in the towel and tried to warm myself in front of the
fire. "Ya see, it all started after I 'ad loonch in Tortuga. I wus on me
way down ta the beach when I boomped inta a huge group oov people along the
way. I asked them where they wus goin', and the leader replied that they wus
lookin' for pirate's treasure hidden away soomwhere on Turtle Island. He
also needed the help oov a medic. So bein' a nice girl, I decided ta coom
and help. It wusn't like I 'ad anythin' better ta do anyway."
"Pirate's treasure? Was it for a chest full of doubloons?" Mertjai asked as
she poured a cup of tea for me.
"Thanks. Nah, it wus for a bloody ring! Our leader wus talkin' about 'ow
that ring 'ad soom sort oov magic, and that there wus lots oov gold for the
rest oov oos in return," I said before taking a sip of the tea.
"A magical ring? Sounds interesting, but why such a big group for a silly
ring?"
"Now that's the thing, the place wus said ta be haunted by the spirits oov
the pirates that hid the treasure away. I thought it wus roobish oontil we
got ta the secret den. It wus a tricky cavern that had ocean water drifting
in and out. We figured out that every hour the water would rise oop ta the
top oov the cavern then drop back ta a very low level. So we used a huge
raft and kept track oov the water level so we could hurry back ta the edge
oov the cavern."
"So what about the spirits? Did they exist?"
"Oh, that wus the spookiest thing ever! Froom all over the place, skeletons
came out oov nowhere, attackin' all oov oos left and right. I wus so scared
I almost dropped me scalpel inta the water."
"Poor thing," Mertjai said with a pout.
"Well, I eventually got used ta it, oontill we came ta the end oov the
cavern. We found the whole loot all over a mossy bank. There wus literally
piles oov gold all over, and in the middle wus a boonch oov bones with a
glowing ring on it's hand. As our leader tried ta pry off the ring froom the
bony hand, the pile oov bones came alive, and cursed oos all for tryin' ta
steal a pirate captain's treasure."
"Omigod! Did anyone get hurt?"
"Nah, we eventually killed 'im off with only a few deep cuts that I wus
able ta take care oov. After I bandaged oop the last injury, everyone wus
in a festive mood. They wus splittin' the gold and stoofin' the loot in
their bags and pockets while our leader wus all 'appy about his new ring.
That wus when I could've sworn I heard a rumblin' noise echoing through the
cavern. As soon as I turned around, I saw a huge wall oov water rooshin'
toward me! I took a deep breath and braced meself as we wus knocked off the
raft. When I opened me eyes I saw the lot oov 'em gagging, tryin' ta swim
oop for air while others were fightin' each other for a place ta hold on ta
the raft. Our leader wus the only one still on the raft, and 'e wus kickin'
everyone off the bloody thing. Served 'im right ta get smashed between the
raft and the ceiling when the water level quickly rose oop," I said as a
paused for another sip of tea.
"Eww, did everyone drown?"
"Well, the water level began to drop down and I gasped for the air pocket
in the cavern. When I looked around, everyone else wusn't movin', joost
bobbing oop and down. Since most oov 'em were luggin' around the gold, they
didn't 'ave a snowball's chance in hell ta survive the flood. I wusn't even
able ta save one soul." I sunk my head into my hands as Mertjai came up and
hugged me reassuringly.
"There wasn't anything you could do about it, Mel."
"I know, I know," I said with a sigh, "Oy, remind me ta never go searchin'
for pirate's treasure ever again...especially in nice clothes."
"Sure thing, Mel, sure thing," Mertjai replied with a giggle.
