Since we're just starting out, we'd like to get a little feedback on how we're doing so far and some background info on our players. This will also give us an idea of where to start debates. If you would take a few minutes to answer the questions and return this portion we'd appreciate it. 1) Where did you hear about LegendMUD? 2) How long have you been playing here? 3) How do you find the overall atmosphere of LegendMUD to be? 4) How do you rate yourself as a mudder? Novice, Average, Expert? Are you/Have you been immortal elsewhere? 5) How do you rate LegendMUD's level of difficulty? If you think the learning curve is too steep, do you have any suggestions, to help first time players who don't have the advantage of repeat player knowledge? 6) Which hometown did you start in? 7) What type of character/s were/are you looking to create? Have you succeeded? Did you have to reroll to do this? How many times? 8) What do you like best about LegendMUD? Least? 9) In existing code (global or area), what changes would you like to see? What area needs the least work and what did it do right? What area needs the most work and what did it do wrong? 10) What else would you like to see implemented at LegendMUD? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= GENERAL MUD NEWS New area additions coming soon-- Aztecs, Beowulf, more Ancient Egypt, Iroquois, Ancient China, the French and Indian War, San Francisco, Antarctica, and an expansion to Victorian London. NEW CODE IN THE WORKS: All of these are at one stage or another of completion. No time tables can be give at this time as to when they will exactly be implemented. GUNS and other missile weapons have been in testing and are nearing completion. People from high technology places will be better suited to using guns in places with high technology. The less technological the locale, the less reliably they will work. Also planned to coincide with this is making magic work less reliably the farther from magical locales it it used. VEHICLES will be similar to mounts, but objects, not mobs. These will be very versatile, covering anything from bicycles to trains running along 'tracks' to submarines to WWI fighter planes. MORE SPELLS & SPELL HELP FILES are coming, we promise. Spell help files will have limited access depending on which school of magic you choose to specialize in (i.e. creation vs causation). The remaining spells are ones that Sadist will have to code due to changes in the way the look command works or other more complicated implications. Again, no time tables. A few spells have not been implemented, because upon second look, they may be too detrimental to game balance. ALIGNMENT/HONOR and a new CHALLENGE SKILL have been outlined and are awaiting coding. Alignment would be a measure of how honorable a character is. The skill CHALLENGE would be one where characters could enter honorable one on one combat to increase their alignment to counterbalance such dishonorable actions like backstabbing. REGISTRATION OF SHORT AND LONG DESCRIPTS is coming soon to LegendMUD. You will be able to pick what people see when socials are performed and when people look at a room in which you are standing. The description of what you look like when people look at you will not be affected by this. For example, instead of 'Kaige the goddess of small rodents is here.' You could expect to see something like 'The goddess of small rodents is here.' With no indication of name or current title. Immortals will have to have their name in their long and short descripts in order to make it easier for newcomers to identify them. Your names will remain in the 'WHO' list, and also be used anywhere else names are used instead of short descripts. We are attempting to encourage more roleplaying; however, descriptions should reflect at the minimum the era you orginated in, to preserve the fairness of other players' expectations of your abilities. A DISGUISE skill is in the planning for those sneaky types. Also, offensive descriptions will not be approved. More details later on how to register your 'unique' descriptions. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Legendary Times is put out by the gods of LegendMUD. Please send all replies/additions to [email protected] for inclusion in the next edition. We, however, reserve the right to moderate this discussion, and may object to some submissions. If you feel we have wrongly omitted one of your messages, please talk to either Kaige or Ptah online or through EMail and see if we did indeed receive it in the first place. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
